Summary

Every town has its secrets. Lesley Kara knows them all....

From the author of 2019's biggest crime thriller debut, The Rumour, comes an addictive new novel....

It’s been 192 days, seven hours and 15 minutes since her last drink. Now Astrid is trying to turn her life around.

Having reluctantly moved back in with her mother, in a quiet seaside town away from the temptations and painful memories of her life before, Astrid is focusing on her recovery. She's going to meetings. Confessing her misdeeds. Making amends to those she's wronged.

But someone knows exactly what Astrid is running from. And they won't stop until she learns that some mistakes can't be corrected.

Some mistakes, you have to pay for....

Excellent!

I loved this book. It is well written, with well drawn characters, a compelling story, with a truly satisfying ending. What’s not to love?

Really Very Good

An intelligent story brilliantly read by both narrators. For me a ‘full review 5 star listen’ which is extremely rare.

Who did you tell

What a brilliant book really I couldn't stop listening full of twists right up too the end. Narration was excellent.

Boring

Badly-written, plot full of holes, just awful. You can start at chapter 7 then skip straight to the last three chapters, where a ridiculous series of accidents and coincidences let the author wrap it up. Narration dragged it down even further. Absolutely dire.

Struggled to Stick With It

This book never really warmed up. The story and characters were weak. I kept hoping it would improve so stuck with it but by the time I got to the end I really didn’t care who did it.

Excellent

At last a great story and loved the narrator, who made it believable and intriguing.
Highly recommend.

Boring

Half way through and not sure if I can see it out. Feels more of a chore to listen to instead of me rushing back to listen to it. Story doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Talk about obvious from the start!

I guessed who was the baddie very quickly. Full of stereotypes - I mean how old was the mother - sounded 90! Dreadful narration.
