Summary
David Gemmell was the UK's number one fantasy and historical novelist until his death in 2006. A regular Sunday Times best seller and international sensation, his legacy lives on through his novels, his influence on the genre and the David Gemmell Legend awards.
White Knight/Black Swan was David Gemmell's crime thriller debut, first published under a pseudonym in 1993 and long out of print and highly sought after by fans. Reedited and republished under his own name, it's a must-listen for fans of his heroic and powerful style.
In an action-filled story set in working-class London in the 1980s, Jardine is a bouncer and gang enforcer with a heart of gold. To protect a friend, he goes up against an Irishman demanding protection money - only to realise too late that they work for the same employer. One act of kindness will lead to murder, betrayal, blackmail and some long-hidden secrets....

Wow
My first David Gemmell novel and I really was blown away. The main character was just SO lovable, he should not have been as he was portrayed as a villain, However, he was so honourable and such a delight I had tears in my eyes on so many occasions.
This is a brilliant story and read so well by Max Dowler. I am really so blown away by this book.

What if Druss was born in Croydon?
Very Gemmell, despite the modern setting. Big guy hero does heroic stuff against all the Odds.

Utterly brilliant
This is a total departure for David Gemmell. It is NOT a fantasy novel, it IS a brilliant story of one man who refuses to back down!
Max Dowlers performance is absolute top drawer, beautiful pacing and great characterisation. Give it a listen, you will not be disappointed!!

Great
Great story-line and well narrated, really drew me in, so much so that I could not wait for the next event in the story trying to guess what was coming next.

this is a great find.
Not a usual DG story as nothing like the usual sword and sorcery fair. But it's a real story with heart, a great casual listen.

Surprisingly good!
I am a huge fan of David Gemmell's heroic fantasy novels. I have read and reread them all many times. Although I was aware he had written in this genre, I wasn't drawn to the books. I am really glad I decided to try this audiobook though: it was surprisingly good. I was gripped by the story and dropped everything to see how it concluded! It was gritty in parts but Bimbo is full of heart, just like, say, Druss the Legend.
I would have rated the performance as excellent, except that it is paced a little slowly. I listened at 1.2 speed and that worked perfectly.
