Enjoyed the story. The world-building was great and the characters were well-painted. The romance was beautiful and it was a satisfying end to the first book in this series.

I had to listen to this sped up though because the female narrator’s intonation ticking up at the end of every sentence was a distracting listening experience for me. The male narrator’s voice was great. Would have been 4 stars for me if it wasn’t for the narration.

Good story, narrator’s intonation off-putting

This is the first book I couldnt get into... narration was not great. I was zooning out and had to rewind the story. I was confused with the storyline and diary entries. Story would be amazing but the way it was written it was hard to understand. Spice without the build up, not enough action. Gutted..

I was struggling to finish it

A really good listen and so eager for the next one. As somebody else mentioned in their review, it gets a bit confusing at times, especially when talking about people, places, animals, monsters, etc in the world without explanation as if we’re supposed to know what, who, where they are!! It’s also a bit slow going before going a little too much the other way so the pace is off.
BUT all of that can be forgiven as it is genuinely a really good listen. Would definitely recommend.
Narrators are great too (and I’m really fussy!)

Really enjoyed it

I just wish this book had a different reader! It was really off putting. The story is very good and it’s very well written

Really bad reader

The writing was a bit much, and our main FMC is so annoying towards the end it actually hurt to listen to. I hope the second is better because I loved kaan.

It was okay
