Summary

The zombie apocalypse didn't happen overnight. It happened over the course of several weeks. America was so wrapped up in what the media fed them that they were oblivious until it was too late.

When society's infrastructure started to crumble and the dead began rising to walk the planet, resources became scarce, causing strangers to become friends, neighbors to become family, and some of the closest people to become enemies. Communities fortified their defenses, against not only the threat of the undead but the greed and jealousy of the living.

When the Dead Rise follows several groups from the initial outbreak and beyond.

one of the best I have heard in a while

after meeting the author and buying the book at comic con in Newcastle, I downloaded the audio for the drive home as I couldn't wait to finish it.

I can't wait for the next book, the mix of characters and locations is gripping,

can't wait for the next one.

A decent Zombie story.

I really enjoyed this book and it is a good, solid introduction to what could be great series.

The characters and story kine so far are believable with even the now obligatory 'prepper' not being some sort of Rambo with access to more military equipment than many small countries (in fact, as a prepper he doesn't seem to be that well prepared). I just hope that the series continues like this and it doesn't follow the plot of the vast majority of books of this type and drift off into a world of well armed gangs fighting each other, maniac war lords and renegade military units.

The only thing that stopped me giving this a full 5 stars was the narration. Although his is clear and his voice not unpleasant, the narrator seemed to be in a rush to finish the reading. I suggest that you listen to the sample to see if this bothers you. I solved it setting the narration speed to 80%.

Ouch

Could be a good story but the narrator is just so mono toned and boring…. I’ll not get to the end of this… shame but I just can’t bear his voice any longer!
