Story
Gary Thomas, pastor and best-selling author of Sacred Marriage, believes that one simple word can bring hope, light, and life into any marriage: Cherish. Most marriages survive by gritting teeth and holding on. But what if surviving marriage wasn't the goal? What if we aimed to thrive instead? In Cherish, Thomas teaches us that although there are a countless number of marriages consisting of two people just going through the motions, there are real ways this pattern can be reversed.
Summary

Too much religion
I understand putting ref to scriptures for those that hold Christian beliefs but the whole talk to God thing really puts me off this author. Not sure he'd get away with it in the UK publishing field. You don't need to keep shoving God down my throat so for that reason I've given it a 3 star. I would never go back to a counsellor if they even mentioned God so I'm a bit shocked that he uses it so much but maybe he advertises as a Christian Counsellor. Love his work but don't love the religious aspect.

Great information and methods, pretty religious
The apology languages, relating to love languages, is very insightful and helpful. I feel like that information and the methods discussed to employ effective apologies will be very helpful.
It is off-putting to read a book that is not advertised as religious, but is very religiously based. It changes the view from “anyone can become better, and these are some strategies” to “if you believe what I do, then these strategies will be helpful”. The tone of the book changed from occasionally quoting scripture as helpful anecdotes, to religion being the pathway to success.
Very good book overall.

absolutely game-changing and insightful into how I communicate with people around me. One really interesting thing I took away from this book that I did not expect was the difference between how a younger generation and older generation will precede the same thing two different ways. I just goes to show you how open and honest communication is the only way to correctly portray your feelings and sentiment

Necessary for everyone on the planet
There is something to be learned here for everyone in any kind of a relationship. I wish they had mandatory life skills courses like this in the high school because most kids don't get this in the home and if they do, it's worth reinforcing! This would be a powerful way to strengthen our country by pulling family units together.

Helpful and insightful!
It has helped me to be more aware that other people have different apology languages. I tend to me the type of person that forgives fast because I hate to allow bitterness into my heart but it made me realize how that can cause resentment in the heart of the other person even if my intentions aren’t malicious. I definitely recommend this book.

Good focus on the importance of apology
Makes you look at apology from a different perspective and understand the importance of apologizing in a way that the other person expects to be apologized to.

Very good info, just one problem...
I really enjoyed this book as I have others by Gary Chapman. The information was so on point. What I did not like is that there’s no indication that it is God based. I’m a religious person but I still believe if a book has as much religion in it as this one does, it should say so and let people make an informed decision as to whether they want to purchase it. Other than that, the book is very helpful.

Good information, bit much on religious overtones
Would you listen to When Sorry Isn't Enough again? Why?
Good information on apologizing and using the proper methods on how to apologize. It was a bit heavy on bible and God's forgiveness though. Not everyone is Christian or even religious however and I would have preferred it that was left out. If you can gloss over those parts though, it is good information.
