Fantastic, absolutely brilliant . One of the best psychological thrillers I've read or listened to in a long time.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I struggled to get into this audio book. This certainly wasn't because of the narrator as she was excellent. The constant jumping between past and present was difficult to keep up with and became a little annoying. When the final big reveal happened at the end, it was a wee bit of an anti-climax.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The 'past' story was intriguing and featured the traumatic tale of child abuse as seen through the eyes of a child psychologist. This part was interesting and quite gripping. The 'present' story was in comparison quite drawn out and a little tiresome as the characters featured were a little stereotypical and predictable.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The account of the 'past' child psychologist as it was interesting and gripping.

An anti climax

I enjoyed the UK chapters of the book much more than the American ones as the narrator's accents weren't very convincing. The suspense was broken too early by a fairly obvious clue and some of the twists and red herrings felt a bit contrived. However I did enjoy the book overall and liked the realistically portrayed London office setting and the characters in the team, especially Paula who deserved a hug.

What a great read I was gripped from start to finish, whenever I had to put it down I couldn’t wait to get back to the story. I also liked how Avita Jay really got into each character with her accents. I would definitely recommend

what an amazing story! I was hooked from the first chapter, so much so that I had to finish it in one sitting. The characters were totally believable, the plot unfurled like an onion - layer upon layer giving you insights into each character. The narrator's voice was brilliantly mesmerising too. I'm looking forward to the next book from this author.
