Summary
When two friends pose as boyfriends, could what happens at Christmas turn into something more?
Justin is recently and unhappily single. Christmas is coming, and he doesn't want to face his ex alone at their office party. So Sean - Justin's best mate and long-time secret crush - volunteers to go with him and pretend to be his new flame.
Sean has always lusted after Justin from afar, but there's never been a good opportunity to ask him for more than friendship. Posing as Justin's boyfriend isn't a chore, and if Justin wants to rebound onto him, Sean's more than willing. At the party pretense and reality blur, and a kiss on the dance floor leads to a night of passion.
In the aftermath, they both assume it was a one-time thing until fate intervenes. Stuck together in London over the holidays, they give in to temptation again. But what happens at Christmas stays at Christmas...right?

Sweet Christmas romance!
Childhood best friends, Sean and Justin spend a Christmas together when the weather turns bad. They have never revealed the depth of their feelings for each other but faking a relationship for Justin’s ex might just change that. I’m not always a fan of the fake boyfriend trope but Jay Northcote always sketches such natural, relatable characters that I loved this sweet story - I’ve never met a character of his I haven’t liked. Jay writes lots of small, realistic, intimate moments between his characters - sitting in a café, watching TV, shopping for clothes, giving fun presents - and these always add up to so much more than the sum of their parts, it’s the stuff a life together is made of! 🎧 Mark Steadman has a naturalistic and relaxed narrative style that suits Jay’s writing and he does a great job here.

Friends-to-lovers at Christmas rings all the bells
Justin and Sean have been best friends since they were children, and have had the hots for each other for almost as long. The only problem is they’ve never told each other, and now they’ve decided to pretend to be boyfriends at a work Christmas party, to make Justin’s cheating ex jealous. I really enjoyed this friends-to-lovers story… these guys are sweet, randy, and surprisingly mature for their age… it’s a really fun novella-length listen with plenty of heat and very low angst. Mark Steadman’s characterizations are pleasant and his overall performance is top notch, and I would happily listen to him again.

audio book
this is the first audio book I've ever had and I loved it it really brings the story to life more than just reading it yourself and I loved the story line about 2 friends in love with each other but too afraid to say anything in case they were wrong

Sweet Christmas story
I really enjoyed listening to this Christmas story about two childhood friends who have been secretly in love with each other for years. When they play fake boyfriends for a party they end in bed together which just highlights there feelings for each other. And when they end up spending Christmas together they can't hide their feelings anymore. I thought the narrator did a really good job as well.

A sweet friends-fake BF-lovers holiday story :)
I really like Jay Northcote's stories - they're like warm hugs with fun characters, sweet emotions, a dash of angst, (the one's I prefer anyway), and steam. This is no exception - Sean and Justin are old friends who have kept up with each other even though Sean has been out of the country a fair bit. Justin, recently separated from his cheating ex, asks Sean to be his plus one to the office holiday party. As they fake being BFs, they realise that maybe it isn't all pretend after all.
Mark Steadman provides a solid performance and definitely adds to the enjoyment of the story. A nice way to enjoy the story :)

Friends-to-lovers, fake boyfriends and snwed in.
Friends-to-lovers, faking being boyfriends and snowed in together over Christmas. This book has everything going on for it for being the perfect Holyday read, just the right amount of sweetness, fun and steaminess to keep the balance.
Sean and Justin have been in love with each other for most of their lives, but the time has never been right to tell the other, so they’ve each kept their pining a secret. I loved how one crack at a time they finally let their walls crumble to finally get what they want, and how that is actually very easy and feels so right.
A lovely story, warm and cozy like a blanket in front of the fireplace.

Sexy friends to lovers
I’m reviewing the audio version. This is a sexy friends to lovers story. Justin needs a boyfriend for a party that he knows he will be running into his ex. Sean has perfect timing and shows up at Justin’s just in time to play that boyfriend but are they don’t act like it’s fake. As this new relationship develops the story of all the wrong times for them and Justin thinking Sean is straight gets brought to light. The narrator, Mark Steadman did a great job of bring the characters to life and making for a easy listen.

A Happy Christmas Read
I've given this a five star review because it is a lovely read in this genre. It's a friends to lovers story with two delightful MCs who have hidden their love for far too long. Sean returns to a winter London from back packing and Jay Northcote captures the chill of the London he returns to so well. His two MCs are loveable and make you want to put them on your friends list. Only a British author can get the feel for the patterns of speech necessary to make British characters authentic. The familiariality of it wraps around you. The narrator, Mark Steadman, does a wonderful job bringing the characters to life. This story won't disappoint and I highly recommend it to brighten up your Christmas.
