The artist recounting the loss of her daughter and how she subsequently rebuilt her life was an incredibly powerful story.

Varied and unforgettable stories of true humanity

Sam Walker is a wonderful, unobtrusive interviewer who asks just the right questions to draw out the natural eloquence and courage of her subjects. These are people who have overcome adversity in ways that also helped or inspired others. This simple but clever theme draws together many totally different forms of experience - some unique, such as the man who managed to survive days lost in the sea, or Matthew Syed the UK table tennis champion who caved at the Olympics but gained new inspiration; and others that might seem more ordinary or commonplace, but offer us just as powerful accounts - a young entrepreneur with good reason to call for greater kindness in the workplace; a bereaved father creating social change. Will have you doing further research, listening twice and telling your friends.

I put 4 stars because I did not like all the stories, but most of them were very interesting to listen and I learned a lot of this show

Male majority

Of the 24 people interviewed, only 5 or 6 were female. Originally a BBC product, so not surprising as they do nowt to escape the male-as-norm. I haven't listened to them all as I tired of hearing male experience after male experience.

At best 25% of this series focused on women or females. That is complacent and not at all representative of the UK. Do better, please.
