Story
Celtic mythology, Arthurian romance, and an intriguing interpretation of British history - these are just some of the themes embraced by the anonymous authors of the eleven tales that make up the Welsh medieval masterpiece known as The Mabinogion. They tell of Gwydion the shape-shifter, who can create a woman out of flowers; of Math the magician whose feet must lie in the lap of a virgin; of hanging a pregnant mouse and hunting a magical boar.

Story
The Mabinogion, the earliest literary jewel of Wales, is a collection of ancient tales and legends compiled around the 12th and 13th century deriving from storytelling and the songs of bards handed down over the ages. It is a remarkable document in many ways. From an historical perspective, it is the earliest prose literature of Britain. But it is in its drama that many surprises await, not least the central role of King Arthur, his wife, Gwenhwyvar, and his court at Caerlleon upon Usk.

Welcome to Aberarthur, a small sleepy village in the South. Lots of people live here, and each has a story. Believe you me. Apparently Aberarthur is a fictional village, in that it exists only in my mind. The funny thing is that as you listen to this book it will exist in your mind too, but entirely through the medium of Welsh.

Story
Most people have heard of the Celts - the elusive, ancient tribal people who resided in present-day England, Ireland, Scotland and France. Paradoxically characterized as both barbaric and innocent, the Celts appeal to the modern world as a symbol of a bygone era, a world destroyed by the ambition of empire and the spread of Christianity throughout Western Europe. Despite the pervasive cultural and literary influence of the Celts, shockingly little is known of their way of life and beliefs, because very few records of their stories exist.

Story
It is a story like no other: an epic of endurance against destruction, of creativity in oppression, joy amidst grief, the affirmation of life against the steepest of odds. It spans the millennia and the continents - from India to Andalusia and from the bazaars of Cairo to the streets of Oxford. It takes you to unimagined places: to a Jewish kingdom in the mountains of southern Arabia; a Syrian synagogue glowing with radiant wall paintings; the palm groves of the Jewish dead in the Roman catacombs.

Summary
A mythology collection of 80 Welsh legends and myths, gathered from across Wales.
The Welsh, like other Celtic races, love a good story. From the time of the Mabinogion and the Black Book of Carmarthen, Welsh folk have passed dark winter nights in front of roaring fires and entertained with mythical stories.
Welsh Legends and Myths is a compendium of traditional myths, Welsh fables, Welsh fairy tales and real stories. Like other Celtic mythology, many of the myths and legends told here are based on factual events. While some have mythical roots, all are entertaining.

really disappointed by this book, not what I expected after reading the description. it's heavily historical, narrated in an emotionless voice. I was expecting to fund the film takes and legends and thus is not what this is.

Siomedig iawn.
Very disappointed with this awfully read audiobook. The content seems okay but is read in such a lacklustre way that it doesn't engage the listener. This, however, is nothing compared to the awful and insulting pronunciation of Welsh names and places. Avoid.

Not the greatest culture for myths and legends
I've wanted this book forever but after finally getting it, it turns out the Welsh at poor storytellers. Most of the stories end disappointingly, sorry to say.
