A great listen.

This is one of those books I have read many times over the years and I was thrilled when I joined audible and found it!

I think this audio book will be a frequent listen again.

Good time travel book

Would you consider the audio edition of Weapons of Choice to be better than the print version?

I have all three of the audio books in this series and got through the them in 1 week.Te way the story develops is well paced and you get a good feel for the story. The way the groups in the books play off against each other is well thought out and the action is exciting. The way the futuristic weapons are used and historical characters portrayed is believable.

Good story, terrible performance

As others have said the accents are awful, the American performer Synder can only seem to do American accents.
His English accent tends to be as someone else has said, like Dick van Dyke, cringy bad.
His Scottish is awful too.
His Welsh is the worst impression ive ever heard is so bad its not even funny.
His Australian is really poor.
His German is ok but kind of makes me think of mustache-twirling villains whilst hes doing some of them.
The way he says Hawai is really irritating, i know its probably how its pronounced by the natives but I doubt Synder is from Hawai, not like we call Germany; Deutschland.

Why would they hire a person who cant do 50% of the accents is beyond me and have to take a lot of the blame for this, and to be honest the writers (Birmingham) take on how people from the UK speak is about 30 years out of date and taken from a sitcom or something.

Which is a shame because after listening to all of them I enjoyed the story quite a bit.
P.S. Julia Duffy is really annoying throughout and including John F. Kennedy I thought was shoehorned and stupid.

Really enjoyed the story as well as the narrator

After reading some of the previous reviews I was a bit sceptical about the narrating within this audio book however I personally really enjoyed it. There's a lot going on within this book especially at the start and with the multitude of characters, I enjoyed the differentiation between them by the narrator. yes it could be slightly cringy however it wasn't as bad as made out. Great listen

Decent story let down by an awful narrator

Whatever other merits Jay Snyder may have as a narrator, he absolutely can't do accents. His attempts at English, Australian, French accents - and frankly anything other than American - are utterly cringeworthy.

It was so bad that I ended up returning the book a couple of hours in. The first time in nearly ten years of listening to audiobooks that the narration was so bad that it made me give up. It completely ruined the story for me.

(I've previously read the book and enjoyed the story itself - so my issue is 100% with the performance, not the source material).

What a dreadful narrator!!!

I've been waiting for years for these books to come on the audio market, the story is a real boys own adventure, but why have they got this narrator, when he's doing an American character it's ok but when he try's a female one
It's laughable, a female British voice is dreadful, a female Australian voice OMG talk about Dick Van Dyke in Mary poppins.
It's a real shame they've really missed a trick here.
I still bought the trilogy through as I love JB's work.

Absolutely Brilliant Trilogy

Simply one of the best books i have ever listened too Epic scale and content. A lot of thought has gone into this. Entire series download.. Narration by Jay Snyder was for me, excellent. Do not be off by some of the reviews. Make up your own mind.

A decent yarn, with shocking accents

This had a good time-travel scenario, which wasn't bad at all. It was a good yarn, but not brilliant. The narrator was good, except when he did non-American accents. It was shocking how he portrayed the different accents... posh English sounded like Afrikaans, Australian sounded like Welsh, Scottish sounded Indian etc.. His female voices were even worse... then he did a little girls voice. My goodness, it got even worse! It really was that bad, but I still listened to the whole book. I've got the other books in the series, with the same narrator, so.. wish me luck!

Just confusing, good engaging story in places and a lack lustre ending that left me feeling like I needed answers 🤔
