Summary

Prince Roger is coming home, but home isn't what it was when he left. Traitors have murdered his brother and sister, his nieces and nephews. His mother, the empress, is still alive but in the hands of Roger's own biological father, who controls her through drugs and physical and psychological torture. A new heir to the throne has been conceived, and once the child is born his mother will no longer be necessary to the traitors' plans. Prince Roger must somehow retake the empire from the men who control it before his new brother is born and his mother dies. It's an impossible task, but Prince Roger knows all about impossible tasks.

Patients needed but well worth the listen

Any additional comments?

Having listened to this book I was most disappointed to find out that it had been Miss listed as book 1 when it is actually book 3 of 5 very good novels. Having said that it was very enjoyable and do hope that audible add books 4 and 5 to there listings. I can recommend this book to anyone but listen to books 1 and 2 first.

Great until the last five minutes

Great book but the last five minutes of it feel rather rushed, as if running out of space or word limit.

Good book - good series

I very much enjoyed this "Prince Roger" series and have listened to it more than once.

For fans of epic science fiction this is a good buy - although the emphasis is more on low tech than high tech.

Superb adventure reaches a fitting climax

The final chapter in Prince Roger Mclintock's journey takes us off Marduk and back to Old Earth. This, the fourth book, is a fitting climax to the previous adventures and is perhaps the best of the four, if that is possible.
This time there is a significant element of space combat and tactics which occurs off-world - no doubt a plus for Honor Harrington fans - while the "main" action takes place on Earth.
This is basically a tale of a band of brothers held together by loyalty, integrity and love for each other; of the change from boy to man; of the change from playboy to leader inspiring devotion and sacrifice in his followers. As such it is a tale told many many times before. But in this case the context is always interesting and the variety of characters and personalities makes it fresh and compelling.
It would be unwise to read this before the first three methinks but "We few" has become one of my favourite reads, renewing my enthusiasm for exploring David Weber's creations further, while inspiring me to read some more of John Ringo's solo work for the first time.
This is just great space opera if you like to involve yourself in the complexities of intergalactic politics and military tactics as well as deeper character development and all-out visceral action by turns. This series is not to be missed.
The books are great - but just as important for an Audio book is the narration and in this case it is just brilliant and I will be searching for more work by the same narrator as well as the same authors!

Loved the Story

A great novel. The conclusion leaves some loose ends. Wish the authors could have continued a bit more.

Roger is back

He is back he is mad and out for blood.
After everything he went though in the last 3 books he now has to save his mother and the empire

It’s an epic end to a great adventure.

Gut Punch

This one is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. There's a lot of expressed emotions and some deaths that are hard to cope with.
