From Champion Jockey at 22 to down-and-out at 27, Eddie Malloy is bitter and desolate, reduced to living in an ancient caravan working for a tyrannical horse dealer. Estranged from his family and the sport he loves, Eddie cannot forget or forgive the racing authorities for believing false allegations of horse doping against him which robbed him of his riding licence.

With another miserable Christmas looming, Eddie’s discovery of murder victim Danny Gordon in the racing capital of Newmarket offers him a perilous path to the resurrection of his career. He must balance that ultimate reward against the risk of becoming a victim of Gordon’s ruthless killers.

"It's a racing certainty that Warned Off will offer a challenge to Dick Francis. It's packed with authentic dialogue and characters." ( Today)
"A very professional racing thriller... lots of rough stuff, plenty of racing background and action all mixed up with a love interest combine to provide a fast-moving story." ( Publishing News)
"The plot is from the racing stockpot... fast and violent." ( The Times)

What did you like most about Warned Off?

I like horse racing themed stories and this was good but not quite as polished as John Francombe or Dick Francis.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book has a lot of violence in and shows another grim side of horse racing

Good but not quite as polished as Dick Francis

Looking forward to book 2, but would still like to know what happened to the 2 heavies. Plot left a tiny bit incomplete.

Good start to Series
