Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Kristen Proby comes the newest installment in her beloved Big Sky series....

Max Hull left Cunningham Falls a long time ago. Thanks to his killer instincts and business smarts, he’s come back to town richer than anyone’s wildest imagination. Now, he’s closer to his family, living in his dream home, and at the top of his career - it sure looks like he has it all. All but one thing - and she’s not interested.

Willa Monroe and Max were childhood sweethearts. She daydreamed about their wedding day and named their children, but Max’s dreams were bigger than her. After high school, he left her behind without another word. Now, Willa is a single mother and a successful business owner, and the heartbreak of losing Max was a very long time ago. She’s moved on.

But when he walks into her shop and back into her life, suddenly, it feels like no time has passed at all. He’s as handsome as ever and more charming than she remembered. Once he makes friends with her son and turns his attention on her, how long will she be able to resist him? And does she really want to?

Sometimes, you do get a second chance at first love.

❤️ Kristen Proby books!

As with every Kristen Proby book I've listened to I loved this, it is very heartwarming. It is set in Cunningham Falls so I loved catching up on the other characters, both in this series and the Love Under the Big Sky series.

The performance was mostly great but the English men sounded like ladies a lot of the time!

This is the first book in the Big Sky series I've read, but the third overall. It was a second chance romance between childhood lovers. Willa and Max have been through it and it's not easy when they reconnect, especially now that Willa is a single mom. The connection is instant and it was nice to have them find their way back to each other. The audio really kept me hooked and I highly recommend. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Loved it

When I started this story my heart just broke for Willa. She lost her husband and she was pregnant. But she was definitely a strong women. She made a life for her son and she had her own business.

I loved that there was no overdramatic drama in this story. A few blow ups but that is just how relationships work. I loved that she and Max got a chance to see where their feelings for each other would go.
Max was my hero in this story. Even though he had his own issues to deal with, he was there for Will and her son whenever they needed him.

The narrators were amazing in this story. Definitely spot on.

Sweet, Emotional, and Heartwarming!

Wow! This one is particularly great! I loved it. This is the third book in the Big Sky Series. I haven't listened to the first books in the series, yet. This is a beautifully written second chance to love. The characters are great. Willa is lovely, strong, and a wonderful single Mom. Max is handsome, caring, and supportive. Alex, Willa's son, is such a great kid, cute and smart. The supporting characters are awesome, and supportive. The storyline is sweet, emotional, sexy, romantic, and heartwarming. The happy ending is perfect. Kirsten Leigh and Lee Samuels did a fantastic job with the narration. I HIGHLY recommend it. Looking forward to listen to Charming Hannah and Kissing Jenna.

Willa & Max

Cunningham Falls is the place I would love to visit. I love the town and the people. This second chance love story has me even more vested and I am loving the Big Sky series. Willa and Max were high school sweethearts. When Max left to pursue his dreams, Willa fell for his best friend Cary. Now Max is back in town years after Cary's death and is ready to win back the love of his life. There are a few things I absolutely think make this a fabulous listen. First, Willa and Max know they have a history, but that doesn't make them jump into a relationship. There is a realization that building back to love is important. I also love the way Cary is dealt with. He isn't swept under the rug and these two move on. It's realistically dealt with, each emotion they both have and the different ways they handle it. Life is tricky and Proby writes their story with an authenticity that stole my heart. And then there is Alex, Cary and Willa's son who adds a layer to their relationship. Funny, smart and caring, this boy makes for some great family scenes. Typical boy making his mother crazy and is the center of her world. Add in all the fantastic secondary characters of friends and family all giving advice and love and the story is amazing. I can't wait for more!

Kirsten Leigh and Lee Samuels give a fabulous performance bringing this story to life. These seasoned narrators know exactly how and when to tug on my heart strings and both did! Leigh gives us a strong, sensitive Willa and Samuels is the caring, yet frustrating man! Both give us all the feels and let us love Willa and Max.

Max and Willa!

Max has loved Willa since they were teenagers however his dreams for the future had him leaving town while hers had her wanting to stay. He always knew that they were meant to be together but when he returned it was to find her married to his best friend and expecting his baby.

Willa has been a single mother to her nine year old son Alex and has created a good life for both of them. When Max re-appears in her life a decade after the death of her husband the chemistry and connection between them is stronger than ever but if they are to have a future together they must also heal from the past.

This is a romantic story about love, loss, family and healing. Max is the perfect mix of sweet and sexy while Willa is strong and resilient as they both help each other move on but never forget the loss they share. I listened to an audio copy of the book and enjoyed both the emotion and fun that emerged from the narrator’s performances.

wasn't for me

I'm sorry but this book wasn't for me.

First up was the characters. Max was almost too good to be true, multi-millionaire, amazing friend, Willa's first love. He literally has it all. When he steps in and starts dating Willa again after her husband (also Max's best friends dies) their relationship becomes unrealistic. Willa has a lot of emotional baggage, sometimes her actions really didn't sit well with me.
Secondly, the timeline was unbelievable and not very enjoyable. Everything happens very quickly.

Alex, Willa's son acted so much older and mature than a child of 9years old.

Overall this book wasn't for me.
