This book makes canine science fun and relevant

This is a glorious book! I loved every minute of it. It takes scientific evidence and shows how we can apply it to improve doggy lives. It is also really heart warming and sweet. The narrator does a fab job, however, there are a few issues with the editing on my copy, whereby a few sentences over-ran each other.

Enjoyed this book

I listened to this book several times and I found it to be very enjoyable, engaging and interesting. I read the complaints about the performance and totally disagree. I thought she did an excellent job. I liked her soft voice, sure she pronounced dachshund kinda weird but that was not enough of a reason to keep me from listening. Great book with great content on positive training. I actually found another dog book by the author that is awesome too. Freedom from fear, anxiety and stress. I highly recommend.

Good book, terrible audio

The actual information in the book is excellent. It is presented well and is easily digestible. However. The audiobook is terrible. About 2/3 of the way through there’s an audio glitch that causes doubled audio/a weird echo for about 10 seconds at a stretch. It goes away, but then it happens again later. It is possible to still follow along in the book but it is so obnoxious. Also, the narrator has. A weird cadence when she. Talks. She breaks. Up sentences weirdly like she. Has no idea what. She’s trying to say. She also mispronounced the word dachshund. I know this one is petty but it’s a book about dogs, learn how to pronounce dog breeds!

recommended for every dog owner, new and old

I'm a dog trainer for a rescue so I'm always trying to find ways to improve general dog knowledge. it's still pretty hard to get people to read a book but at least I can point them to a single book and feel confident they're getting a comprehensive education.

Read this one instead

This is a great book for new or first time dog owners. There is a lot of great information for new dog parents on everything from training to health to what it is like to develop a relationship with a dog. The reader, however, is terrible. She cannot pronounce pretty common words correctly, like repeated mispronounced brachiocephalic and misused words like waking and walking. For the first several chapters, I really believe that the speaker was a computer so her tone was flat with little emotion. Otherwise, this is a good book and I recommend reading it instead of listening to this recording. tl/dr: It is the repeated mispronunciation of brachiocephalic for me.

The glitch is SO ANNOYING

There are moments when the audio plays over itself. It makes it very hard to concentrate. So annoying. The narrator also doesn’t know how to pronounce “canine” or “dachshund.” Did the author / producer bother to listen to it?

Really enjoyed the first part of the book, but...

Sadly the recording doubles over on itself during the enrichment chapter halfway through. Trying to finish, but it's hard to listen with two voices talking at once.

Audio Issues with the Book.

The book is good but about half way through, the audio starts malfunctioning. I could not finish listening to the book.
