Summary

What can you do when you only have two years left under the sun? You can, for instance, keep to yourself and lose all contact with reality. You can spend all this remaining time feeling sorry for yourself and crying.... But I decided to act in a completely different way: If you have just a few years left to live, then why not enjoy yourself to the fullest? But how would I do that? It's a piece of cake, since there is a virtual reality I can run to. And, as I've found out, there is a new project being launched pretty soon, about which only scarce info has been given. The only information available is on the official website of the game Alfarome.

"Are you fed up with elves, gnomes, and other typical races from fantasy novels for teenagers? Sick and tired of reading about medieval battles and life in those dark times? Then, welcome to Alfarome! What's in store for you here? It's a brand new game, in the genre of post-apocalyptic cyberpunk, that tests your endurance! And what else can you hope for? That's top secret, because any information can bring you money and you could make loads of it in the game!"©

Well, I'd love to go back to the old good days, when I was young and hale. Taking into account my past, this kind of virtual world will be just perfect for me!

What a listen....

So, I just started listing to books for work travel and general leisure. All I have to say is, if you are interested in fantasy/game play novels, this is a must try. I really enjoyed how detailed and realistic the writing was and am only 5 hours in.

dayum!!

I got to say this is a pretty epic book , I like the fact the MC acts mature and plays off his past experiences , without feeling op , just a solid story and a solid start .

The Audio

It started alright as a story, aside from the MC being total clueless. What killed it for me and a return was the VO work. Kevin Collins, please for the love of all that is holy. Get a good pop filter and stand back from your mic. I can hear your lips smacking, breathing. This is NOT supposed be an ASMR recording.

Not bad, not great.

The translation from Russian to English is pretty good. But the narrator is far too wooden for most of the book. The other issue I had was with the author writing a main character who is supposedly 'good' but who also really enjoys torturing people to death. There is plenty to like in this book. But I never really identified with the main character. And with the narration being sort of plodding most of the time, it's just not great. It's worth a credit if you really like LitPRG, though.

Not the best but.....

I did not like much of this book. The main character had little redeeming qualities. Why would any person want to spend the end of their life in a post-apocalyptic world killing people? The book does not flow but jumps around,
The last 1/4 of the book was better and makes me want to see what happens next.

Needs to be longer and more detailed

This was a good start to the book, but it had about half of the book being about this stats and equipment. This needed more details and needs to be a lot longer since in reality due to the stats ot would be about 6 hours long. It was a good start to the series but the next one needs to be at least 15 hrs with more details.
