Summary

Bartholomew Yancy never expected to inherit an English earldom and had no intention of marrying. Now, the Earl of Ramsbury and last in his line, he's obligated to resign his position as England's War Secretary, find a wife, and produce an heir. Only one woman holds the least appeal: Isobel Ferguson, an exquisite Scotswoman. Brought to Scotland to mediate between feuding clans, he doggedly woos her.

Disillusioned with men pursuing her for her attractiveness, rather than her unusual intellect, Isobel has all but abandoned any hope of finding a husband in the Highlands. Not only does she believe Yancy no different than her other suitors, he's a notorious rake. She's been told he's practically betrothed. Therefore, his interest in her cannot possibly be honorable, and so she shuns his attentions.

When Isobel is mistakenly abducted by a band of rogue Scots, Yancy risks his life to rescues her. To salvage her compromised reputation, her brother and father insist she marry him. Yancy readily agrees, but Isobel - knowing full well she's fated for spinsterhood by refusing his offer - won't be coerced into marriage.

Mistaken

This is a story where a hero comes to the rescue of a woman he loves even though she thinks he is betrothed to another. Even though he is not sure how she feels and even after he rescues her she still runs hot and cold. Once some truths are found out she will find out how wrong she was. Loved this Narrative!

Sigh! A wonderful addition to the audible books of Collette Cameron! David Monteath, the narrator takes you into the story with his wonderful voice and I was mesmerized as the characters came alive.
Bartholomew Yancy, now Earl of Ramsey must resign his position with the Crown, due to his inheritance of an English Earldom. Previously with no intention of marrying, he finds he must and produce a heir to carry on the line There is only one lady he can think of to satisfy that position.
Isobel Ferguson is a beautiful Scotswoman and is tired of men pursuing her. She sees Yancy as no different and rebuffs his pursuit. But fate has a way of stepping in and although the strong Scot needs his help to settle some clan disputes, she is determined to defy him.
But as danger calls and Isobel finds herself taken captive, can Yancy save her?
I could see in my mind the scenes unfolding as the narrative continued and could only smile as we got to the end! Loved this story!!

Love this series! Classic HEA by Collette Cameron

Truly enjoy listening to this novel. I have read most of Collette Cameron's books. Listening to it this time around was quite fun. To hear the names I have realized I pronounced some names wrong. Still I loved this story! Well I love all Collette Cameron's stories! This delightful tale is about a stubborn Lass Isobel Ferguson (half-sister of Ewan McTavish from Highlander's Hope) who has been in love with Yancy, Lord Ramsbury for as long as she can remember. One night at a ball she is told a sinister lie that shatters her dreams of becoming his wife. Now in order to save her heart she can not stand being around him and avoids him every chance she gets. He on the other hand loves her and can not figure out why she has all of a sudden spurned him. He refuses to give up and when tragedy strikes he goes to rescue Isobel. While away he is caught in a rather compromised position with Isobel and are forced to marry...but she refuses. Once the lie comes out she rushes to make up for her mistakes...Of course in true Cameron fashion Happily Ever After is once again found....Which is what I love about all her books!!

Exciting Romance

This story has excitement, danger, humor, romance, a misunderstanding, and a mistaken identity. It also a hero and heroine who are intelligent, stubborn, and absolutely lovable. Yancy and Isabel are also in love, but they won't admit it ( the misunderstanding). This is a romantic adventure with twists and turns, and a surprise that proves communication is a good thing. You will hold your breath in places, and you will sigh happily at the end. David Monteath’s narration was excellent, very good with different voices. I enjoyed it.

Loved this!

Collette brings it all! Laughter, love and a grand adventure! I would love for this one be made into a movie. David Monteath did a beautiful job narrating it. Earl Yancy and Isabell Ferguson had sparks crackle all around them. He was English and she was Scott. He went to Scotland because her brother had invited him. She loved exploring caves in search of artifacts. Then the trouble get completely out of control.

An exciting story of drama and romance

Where does Virtue and Valor rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the best audiobooks I have listened to. Not only for the way it was narrated but the storyline. It had humour, romance and danger.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Isobel, she was an intelligent and brave lady. She also cared for others.

What about David Monteath’s performance did you like?

His narration was excellent, the different voices he used for the characters and his voice just suited the story. It all just flowed perfectly together.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Oh yes, I definitely found some of the turns of phrase very amusing and laughed out loud on a few occasions. It made my family ask what I was listening to!

Any additional comments?

This was an extremely enjoyable story, but then there hasn't been a Colette Cameron story I haven't enjoyed. However this was one of the best and I found myself reluctant to stop listening when it was time to sleep. I received a free copy and voluntarily posted this review. This is my honest review.

OK read and barely OK narration..

This was a fairly decent book, the usual angst and the usual misunderstand/lie. One little liar told the heroine that the hero was engaged to her and Isobel believed her so she treated Yancy like crap for YEARS. It was about 95% before she found out the truth. If it hadn’t been for Angus and Duncan mistakenly kidnapping Isobel this would have been kind of boring.

I did like Yancy and Isobel, as well as Harcourt and Ewan, Lord and Lady McTavish and the giant twins, Gregor and Alasdair. And the bad guys were totally disgusting: long stringy hair, big bushy beards, rotted teeth and needing a bath something-awful, at one point Isobel covered her nose because she thought something had died in the woods but it was just the smell of MacHardy’s men. Yuck!

There was some nice desire in this and 1 fairly discriptive sex scene at about 98%, and the only swearing was simple British swearwords.

As to the narration: He was just ok. The women were good and some of the men were too but the hero, Yancy, and the Duke of Harcourt were just too effeminate for me.

Will love conquer all.

Virtue and Valor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ written by Collette Cameron
(Highland Heather Romancing a Scot #2)

Bartholomew Yancy, Earl of Ramsbury and England's War Secretary is ready to resign and get to producing his heir. For years Yancy's sights have been on Isobel Ferguson the sister of his best friend. Yancy does not understand Isobel's distain for him. They at one time did rub along fine but as of last year she has despised him.

Isobel is not the usual as a woman of the times. She is intrigued by archaeology, is a master of language and very strong willed. All of which is perfect to Yancy and he find himself vulnerable to her charms.

Yancy arrives at Craiglocky Keep at the behest of the King and believing this to be his last assignment before he resigns his post. He is hoping to woe Isobel and propose marriage. Isobel, however, is under the impression Yancy is betroth to another and finds him a rogue trying to compromise her. Isobel as a child has had a strong feeling and has been in love with Yancy for years.

Only Ms Cameron by her skilled writing and narrative could sweep you away in this heartfelt romance. You feel you are in the book and the characters come alive as only she can do for her readers. I loved this book. Many twists and turns finally the end is worth it.
