Summary

Science and faith face off in this lovely contemporary romance novel full of lovable and witty characters.

Ever since I fell in love with Jake as a child, I've thought of him and me as opposites who would complement each other. I'm a psychic medium who works with spirits and tarot cards while Jake is a scientist who only believes in things that can be proven with hard data. Unfortunately, adulthood has only increased our differences, and to Jake and everyone around us, we're more like clashing colors that should avoid mixing. Although I can clear a house of spirits, I have no clue how to clear my heart of Jake.

Violet is called upon by a group of scientists to investigate supernatural phenomena in their lab. It could be her chance to prove to Jake, her longtime crush, that what she does is valid. But can she produce evidence strong enough for the biggest skeptic to believe that all psychics aren't frauds? And if she succeeds, will he finally see her as more than his best friend's younger sister?

Contains mature themes.

Sweet bit spiraled a bit towards the end

Liked this one. A little bit different of a story with an inherently sweet message about respecting differences even though we don’t always understand. Some things I found a bit troubling like the way the main male characters questioning of the main female characters sanity. The reason why is explained but I found it troubling how it was all just brushed aside and forgotten. Also the whole drama part towards the end felt out of character for the main female character. Suddenly she started acting like a bit of an immature child and it wasn’t a too good look. Also the ghost investigation situation felt a bit snubbed. Maybe more to come in sequels?

Aside from these pet peeves of mine that could have been a bit more developed I liked the the story a lot. Felt new and fresh and outside the standard HEA tropes. Nice narration but some times felt the male character came of as a bit too pathetic in the old traditional sense of the word and different acting choices could have made that less of an issue I think. Female narration spot on as always. Worth a listen though if not for anything but a fresh interesting theme.
