About this listen

Nix Monroe has a plan. Infiltrate the Enigma app and lure out whoever his cousin was last speaking with before everything went to shit. Nix won’t stop until he finds answers, even if that means transferring to a different university and getting entangled with the infamous Demons of Foxglove Grove. Lake, West, and Yejun. Three of the most powerful men on the entire planet, and also the deadliest.

When Nix finds himself on their radar, he thinks maybe it’s not all bad, and he can twist the situation to his advantage. It’s not long, however, before he discovers the Demons have their own objective. Someone is after them, and they want to use Nix to lure out whoever that may be.

Forced to pretend to be their new mutual plaything, Nix struggles to search for clues about his cousin and maintain personal boundaries between himself and the guys. They might take his body, but he refuses to give them any other part of himself, especially since there’s no way of knowing if one of them happens to be the person he’s after. Lake is next in line for the throne and will do anything to stop those secretly trying to prevent him from taking it. He treats Nix like a possession, something he has a right to take. And potentially break.

West is an up-and-coming boxer who rules the school with boyish charm and iron fists. He doesn’t try to hide who or what he is, not even from Nix, the first of the Demons to bend him to his will, laughing all the while. Yejun is considered the flirt of the group, the one who’s hooked up with practically everyone on campus. Initially, he’s not interested in playing pretend with Nix, but it isn’t long before he’s changed his tune.

Great narrator, great story… super frustrating because this story goes on for 3 more books that are not available yet!
I think this should be informed in the description! I was completely unaware and now what? So yeah… too great to end with this major hanging

Great and frustrating

the voice actor of Nix did a wonderful job, but the voice of Lake and Wes made some strange choices. Lake had a nasal-y snooty accent which didn't suit the character at all, and the voice of Wes seemed to not understand when to emphasize certain statements or lower his voice for dramatic effect which made everything he read quite confusing and at times unintentionally funny.

The story is good, if a bit underdeveloped. there's really no reason for it to be set in a sci-fi environment (at least as of this book) so the sci-fi elements are kind of jarring in this old money top university setting as it's completely unnecessary for the plot. The steamy scenes are really well-written, and I think that if the author had made the book just slightly longer or kept it to one or two character POV it might have benefitted the storyline's pacing problem. as it is right now Nix seems to be thrown (literally and figuratively) from scene to scene in a very fast pace, which makes it hard to get a read on him as his own character. all in all I'm still going to read the next book when it comes out, because it's an entertaining story with a lot of potential.

some weak points but worth the read!

Only issue for me was that I didn’t think Lakes narrator fit him the most.. always picture him more sophisticated in his tone of voice if that makes sense.

Loved it
