About the narrator

Jenny Rogneby was born in Ethiopia 1974, but was given away for adoption when she was one years old. Growing up in a small town called Boden in Sweden, her environment was quite different from that of most African children. Driven by an interest in human behaviour and how it’s affected by society, Jenny pursued a career in Criminology, and worked for 7 years as a Criminal Investigator at Stockholm City Police Department. She’s now a best-selling crime author - her series LEONA has been released in 14 countries, and the film rights have been sold to Hollywood. The fifth book in the series will be released in September 2020.

Summary

It’s the week before Easter in 1971, and at the local power plant in rural Lapland, the workers are heading out for the morning shift. But something’s different - a safe has been robbed, and no one knows how. In Vietas, award-winning crime author Jenny Rogneby explores the case of the missing money, why it was so badly handled and why, to this day, it remains unsolved.

This three-part true crime series is different: it features waterfalls and reindeers, but no murders. It a tale of a crime executed in a spectacularly specific way, but also of a small Swedish town in the middle of nowhere, where everybody and nobody is a suspect.

Unorganised

This is probably a really interesting crime, but it's terribly produced. The narrator is ok, except when she speaks over recordings of other people. There are actual recordings of people who were there, but the translations are bitty, too spaced out, repetitive and seem to be of the most uninteresting parts of that whats being said.
I managed 1 and a half episodes before my head started to hurt. Not good.

Dreadful, nothing but ramblings from the narrator

Could of been great, big let down!!! Only finished it as I had gone so deep into the story

20 minutes of content dragged out

This could have been great but sadly I found it tedious and repetitive. A pity.

Very good short documentary

A very good listen, good level of detail and description. The narrator did a very good job of getting the story across.

Fascinating heist

Stranger than fiction. Well narrated apart from the unnecessary obscuring of the main suspect's voice in English translation

Very good! Interesting listen. Genius coup!

Will admit, it has made me look more into this.

Nice to hear interviews with those were around and suspected. Would love to know who did it!

Coup

The narrator had a lovely voice but why did no one point out that she mispronounces “coup” all the way through. English is not her first language but the production team must have listened to this before signing it off. She uses the word coup about 100 times per episode and by the 3rd episode it got REALLY annoying. Otherwise, as I said, a lovely narrator I just wish she’d had the opportunity to have it pointed out.

Review

This wasn't a bad listen. Crime was very good but was just missing a edge to it. Didn't really get excited about the story. Well presented
