Never known Wodehouse to disappoint, and he certainly doesn't in this sparkling collection of Je3ves and Wooster stories, read by the unfailingly-excellent Martin Jarvis.

A Blast From the Past
What made the experience of listening to Very Good Jeeves, Volume 1 the most enjoyable?
I've always known about Wodehouse, Wooster and Jeeves. These books were always in my father's library. Listening to them now brought back that golden age of England's aristocracy and memories of my father's smile as he sat reading them. But the book in itself is so enjoyable, the delivery is excellent, bringing the characters to life, each in its own excellence. I was laughing out loud as I listened to them come to life.
What did you like best about this story?
The pranks are amazing, the style of writing excepcional and so specific to Wodehouse.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
Any scene where Wooster is confronted by a new problem sends me laughing. Poor man!
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed out loud many times! My husband came to ask what was I laughing about. I'm even smiling now!
Any additional comments?
Thank you for this amazing book. And please convey my deepest gratitude and appreciation to the performer.

Jarvis is the master of these stories.
loved hearing these again after having them on Tape. Martin Jarvis has studied these for so long he really understands how to get the best from the lines.

Entertaining Read
Jarvis does a great line in Woostering, for me he the ideal narrator for the works of Wodehouse. It's part way between dramatisation and a verbatim read, the broad canvas of voices he uses adding to the enjoyment. I also like that is read quite fast, other samples I've listened to and slightly ponderous and I think it has to be fleet to ready hit the comedy. Horden and Briars, often on BBC radio is my other favourite.

Brilliant.
Another excellent classic from the outstanding P. G. Wodehouse. Such a wordsmith. Such intelligent witty humour. Such story-telling. A joy.

Delightful
I had already seen the televised version of these stories but the book is so much richer in its delightful descriptions of Bertie's discomfort at the various pickles he falls into. Martin Jarvis brings out every nuance of humour and I could listen to this over and over.

Jarvis reading Wooster: Does it get any better?!
Brilliant. Listened in car with kids. Loved it. Short chapters worked for us rather than one long story.
