About this listen

Vampires are a pain in Alf’s neck.

After hosting a diabolical vampire wedding last Halloween, Alf had imagined that Whittle Inn had seen the last of those long-toothed monsters. She’d pointedly barred them from ever setting foot or fang in her part of the English countryside again. But since then, one thing has continued to bother our favourite wonkiest witch.

Who killed the handsome young vampire Thaddeus? And why?

Now Alf will have to grit her teeth. Despite her protestations, her undead foes are breathing down her neck once more and threatening to make an unwelcome return to her wonky inn. Is anyone safe? How long before another one of their number bites the dust?

Given their previous escapades, Alf and her friends are keen to provide a sharp reality check. Alf heads off to Transylvania to make things right, but will the evil Count Grigor and his coven of fiends have the last laugh? Is Alf a match for these bite-young things?

Find out in Vengeful Vampire at Wonky Inn.

I enjoyed this book, although it took me a while to get into it but once we reached Transylvania I was hooked and like the main character Alf, I was held captive. These books can be read as stand alone stories but this one obviously carries on from book three Weird Wedding at Wonky Inn, which I haven't heard, yet. I think that was why I didn't immediately take to the story, I didn't know the history between the new comers and the favourite regulars and the fact that vampires are involved. Creepy. There is a mystery here, who killed Thaddeus? but he died in the other story and while they do solve his murder, this story is more how Alf survives the vampire encounter. Move over Ethan Hunt, there's a new girl in town. Traveling to transylvania means a lot of the usual characters don't have a very big role to play in this adventure but Alf still has help from new ghosts and of course she doesn't go entirely alone. Can't wait for the next book but while I do I will be catching up on a few books I missed.

After weeks of receiving mail that she doesn't want Alf finally opens the letter. Only to find her inn is in grave danger, the vampires have finally decided to seek justice for there murdered friend, who died at her inn. They are not only threatening the inn but to start a war with all witches. Closing the inn doesn't stop the vampires arriving or attacking and Alf gets sent to transylvania on a piece mission. Can she and a witch ambassador broker peace? Things don't go to plan and Alf finds herself being locked up. It seems the only way to survive this encounter is to break free and possible find the real killer herself.

I liked the narrator. She is the voice of Alf and the gang and I can't imagine anybody else in the role doing a better job.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
