Summary

Integrity Taylor has regained possession of her ancestral lands - and inherited a whole host of new problems. The specter of what really happened to her parents is casting a shadow over everything, while Fomori demons are being sighted up and down the Highlands. It doesn't help that Aifric Moncrieffe still seems determined to see her dead, and emerald-eyed Byron remains stubbornly blind to his father's true nature.

Integrity is determined to stay in control of her own destiny, however, even if it means confronting the darkness across the Veil yet again. And at least she's still got a sense of humor....

Can't wait for the next one!

This heroine I'd one of my favorites created by Helen Harper. There's a solid storyline, character development and witty humor here! Start with book one in the series. You'll finish them all in no time flat!

Captured me

This series has captured my attention. I have listened to this twice and will probably do so again as I work around the house. I love the narration. Pulls so much life into the story! This story is exciting as she goes into the veil after her sweetie. The ending is not what I was expecting but I guess i should have since this author always surprises me (in a good way). I am just glad that the books had audible versions.

The excellence of the series continues.

Harper is giving us so much long awaited information hidden in the ridiculously political fae culture surrounding our mc. Plots going back hundreds of years are verging on being exposed. Tensions are very high. Our mc doesn't miraculously become totally invulnerable. Her own intelligence and resilience have to carry her thru. She does keep accumulating unexpected followers and is less alone. The final entry in the series is next and its been so wonderful, a perfect story with the best narration I've heard, that I'm looking forward to it and dreading it's completion.

The last quarter of the book was extremely intense.

Integrity goes through the veil into the Famori demons world to retrieve the skeleton of a Shide for the Chieftain of one of the clans. Bryan was supposed to accompany her, but an argument about his father changed that. She went through with someone else and retrieved the bones. Upon returning, she finds that Byron went through on his own to look for her. She goes back to find him, but sees him dragged off by the demons. She sets up an elaborate plan to go alone to rescue him. The attempted rescue is harrowing. Shocker ending.

Good fantasy series

It's like Harry Potter and Hunger Games mixed in with a splash of Leverage the tv show.

Great series

I loved all the books in the series so far (must be read in order). This book was the slowest to pick up and get exciting but a lot happened and of course the end was great!
I absolutely love the fun banter between the character. The characters are well developed but in a natural, part of the book way.
The minor romance and its growing suspense is also fun!
Might have been a bit unclear at the beginning of book one but this is a quest type series only the quest is not revealed all at once.
The narrator is great, a couple of times I wasn't sure who was speaking for a second but really minor. Not the best female vs male voices but real great at getting the tone and emotions through.
