Summary

Braylar is still poisoned by the memories of those slain by his unholy flail Bloodsounder, and attempts to counter this sickness have proven ineffectual. The Syldoonian Emperor, Cynead, has solidified his power in unprecedented ways, and Braylar and company are recalled to the capital to swear fealty. Braylar must decide if he can trust his sister, Soffjian, with the secret that is killing him. She has powerful memory magics that might be able to save him from Bloodsounder's effects, but she has political allegiances that are not his own. Arki and others in the company try to get Soffjian and Braylar to trust one another, but politics in the capital prove to be complicated and dangerous. Deposed emperor Thumarr plots to remove the repressive Cynead, and Braylar and Soffjian are at the heart of his plans. The distance between "favored shadow agent of the emperor" and "exiled traitor" is unsurprisingly small. But it is filled with blind twists and unexpected turns. Before the journey is over, Arki will chronicle the true intentions of Emperor Cynead and Soffjian.

could have been better narrated,an interesting story but the voice isn't a warrior's voice and ruined it for me.

Start with Book 1

This is the second in the series and literally starts the moment book one ends, so if you havn't read book one yet then go and start there.
I loved this series, at first I had no idea what was going on (as with all first books in fantasy series) but it was easy to follow and all begun to make sense fairly quickly, I found this written well and it wasn't long before I had a good grasp of all the characters, I will miss them now I finished the series ;)
Oh, there is a LOT of swearing in this but I kinda loved that about it and it had me laughing more than once.

enjoyed more than book 1

glad I stuck it out and listened to book two in this series. I think the story although stretched out a bit had more meat in it than the first...

Good but the narration could have been better.

Strong story line and good characters. Just felt a stronger narrator would have added to the story line. This one is good but didn't sound right for the characters.

Not a bad story, but the recording is faulty,

Goes silent with 5hrs 19 minutes left to run, which makes it useless to download

Needs a different narrator

I am sure that the story would have been more enjoyable with a different narrator. Ok on the prose parts but awful with the dialogue and accents. Pauses in the strangest of places.
