Summary

Marine Lieutenant Jacob Brown was on borrowed time, and he knew it.

He was a rogue element, disobeying orders and pursuing mission goals of his own. His Scout Team had been burned, disavowed by his chain of command and the owner of the stolen ship he was flying was after them to get it back. To make matters even more complicated, the man Jacob had stolen the ship from is an infamous outlaw and mercenary named Jason Burke...his father.

Being hunted down by both the United Earth Navy and the mercenary group that called itself Omega Force, Jacob has only one chance to keep his team out of a military prison and bring down the head of the One World terrorist faction that always seemed to be three steps ahead of him...and that was only if his father didn't catch him first.

The book I was waiting for...

I've read all of Joshua Dalzelle's books several times and love them so I was looking forward to the meeting of Omega Force and Scout Fleet. Without giving anything away, what a great next chapter in both series. I started out with Scout Fleet and quickly became hooked on Omega Force, Anyone into Omega Force will love this I'm sure, it's as much Omega 12 & 3/4 as Scout Fleet 3.

brilliant as usual

As usual the writer does not disappoint with plenty of good characterizations and the plot never misses a beat. Some nice twists and turns Make it a listen that's hard turn off. These books being audible make my long hours on the road more enjoyable and I find myself sitting in my car maybe an extra 20 minutes before going into calls because I don't want to miss the next segment.

Excellent series

Been listening to a ton of Sci Fi lately, and Dalzelle in my top 2 with Jack Campbell.
The fight scenes are not drawn out to add pages(minutes), there is an actual plot to all his stories, his protagonists are engaging and there is plenty of humor. Most science fiction has some sort of FTL and gravity generators, that's part of the sci fi, but the physics make sense, and the military stuff seems well enough done. No wokeness to notice. This is a good series

end of; and to a new???

a most interesting integration for a parallel story line as they share a lot of common ground and a coming of age in a dangerous universe....

Boy was that good!

Really nice and satisfying! The meet up between Jason and his sonJacob was terrific. I just love both series! I'll probably listen to this dozen's of times just like I have all the Omega Force books. I really just love this author.

Great story, can't wait for the next

Overall this was a fun story to get lost in. It provided some resolution to a couple arcs while still leaving me excited for the next installment.

The only negative is that the narrator struggled in a couple places to get the timing of dialogue to sound natural. He also accidentally called Jason by his son's name, Jacob, twice. It's honestly not that big of a deal and now it will be a fun Easter egg to see if you can catch it. Paul Heitch has been such an incredible voice actor, even letting fans in for a behind-the-scenes look at the recording for this book. This was just a reminder that he too is human.

The “I am your father” episode

When Omega Team finally meets up with Obsidian.

Its fun to see the two teams work together and have all your favorite characters in one book.

However I’m not entirely sure if I enjoyed the story as much as the other books. It was fairly brief in certain areas and somewhat anti-climatic in my opinion.
