Summary
Valdemars regeringsperiode begyndte forrygende med militære sejre, heldige alliancer og et flag, som (efter sigende) kom dalende ned fra himlen. Men en dramatisk kidnapning på Lyø i 1223 satte en stopper for Valdemars optur, og herfra gik det tilbage for kongens magt syd for Danmark. Valdemar gik herefter over til at lave lovgivningsarbejde, hvilket udmøntede sig i Jyske Lov. Bonus: En smuk portugisisk dronning samt en fatal vådeskudsulykke.
