About this listen

The secret history of David Hasselhoff and the fall of the Berlin Wall - as told by the Hoff himself.

Autumn, 1989. The waning days of the Cold War. A rogue Stasi colonel has acquired a nuclear bomb and threatens to level Berlin if and when the Wall comes down. CIA Agent Nick Harper is called in to foil the plot. Soon after arriving, however, Harper discovers his identity has been compromised. To stay alive, he must go along with a group of passionate young East Berliners who mistake him for their idol, American superstar David Hasselhoff.

Meanwhile, across the Wall, the real David Hasselhoff arrives in West Berlin to play a sold-out show before a hundred thousand adoring German fans, in the name of freedom. But upon crossing into the East as a tourist, Hasselhoff - who bears a striking resemblance to the US operative - unwittingly finds himself caught up in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse.

When the Hoff fails to show up for his concert, Agent Harper is forced to stand in for his famous doppelgänger while the real Hasselhoff must rely on his acting chops and Knight Rider training to save Berlin...and potentially the world.

It's a fantastic book in many ways. Great made up story of a very special historical moment. Only thing is the Hoff sounded a little half cut during the narration.

Don't hassle the Hoff.

Good fun old fashioned spy story with the thread of truth mixed with nostalgia and fiction. Sit back relax and enjoy the story

Excellent to escape to.

Fast-paced, funny and well written. Engagingly read, the occasional slurred syllables easily forgiven by the warmth and good humour of the voice- lovely accent.
Perhaps a couple of chapters too long, and a little predictable if you know your spy genre / Bond films.
Having said that, I looked forward to my commute for the first time ever and found myself really wishing it was true: lots of nostalgia for Knight Rider and Baywatch, and of course The Hoff!

Great fun

Just wow.

If you're not a fan of the Hoff this might not be for you.

If you feel like inflicting damage on yourself try adding a drinking rule for when he says his name.

I smashed this book in about 2 days, really enjoyed it. Don't think it'll be everyone's cup of tea though!

Really enjoyed this story,
David very good at coming up with creative ideas and also plays himself.
A must listen too even if you are not a fan of David you will still enjoy. You can also learn a lot about history during this book
David do lots of different voices throughout, when reading girl characters he used a girl soft high voice. He is an amazing actor and very talented at sounding very different for each character in his book.
I need a part 2

Amazing story hope for sequel
