About the Author and Performer
Mariah Carey is an American artist of Black and Irish ancestry. She is an award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, actress, entrepreneur and philanthropist. She has recorded 15 studio albums and holds numerous industry records, including the most number-one singles of any solo artist in history. She has received many accolades, honours and distinctions throughout her career, including the Congressional Award for her charitable work with youth through the Fresh Air Fund's Camp Mariah. She is an inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Carey remains forever thankful and fiercely loyal to her global family of fans. Ms. Carey is the mother of two children, Moroccan and Monroe.
Summary
It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. Though there have been countless stories about me throughout my career and very public personal life, it’s been impossible to communicate the complexities and depths of my experience in any single magazine article or a 10-minute television interview. And even then, my words were filtered through someone else’s lens, largely satisfying someone else’s assignment to define me.
This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.
Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling and healing. My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding, not only about me, but also about the resilience of the human spirit.

What a Queen ❤️
I’m a life long Mariah fan. Although really just specifically the music. It’s always been about her amazing voice and songwriting. I haven’t paid too much attention over the years about her private life or followed much any media coverage. This book brings everything together and puts her awesomeness into context. The book takes you on a journey of LIFE! Childhood, dreams, ambition, racism, love, marriage, divorce, children, success, hard work & determination. Faith, forgiveness, family, friendships. The highs the lows... all of it. Really fantastic listen, I would recommend.

Loved it.
I have been a fan since Vision of Love, but I didn't know Mariah had such a tumultuous childhood - I just knew of her immense talent. I loved hearing the inspiration behind the songs and hearing Mariah sing them - this made the book for me. The only downside is, I felt it was a bit rushed towards the end. But, I just loved the book and was eagerly waiting for it after pre-ordering. I just want to delve back into her albums, now I understand the songs more.

A beautifully heartbreaking but inspiring story
It was a beautiful, heartbreaking, but inspiring story. I'm glad I chose to listen to it told in her voice. Hearing her jubilence while discussing happy times, hearing her voice crack when rehashing the painful moments, and hearing her sing the songs these stories inspired made it so much better. Fans will absolutely love it but even if you aren't a lamb it is so worth the listen.

My first audiobook and WHAT a way to start!
I loved every single second of this. The book itself is wonderful. HONEST, Upfront and gritty but told in such a great way.
Mariah reads it beautifully in a soft voice that makes it easy to listen to whilst chilling out.
And the singing! The fact she actually sings the lyrics as she explains what they were written about just made me so happy!

So many things I wasn't expecting!
My first audio book and I loved it - I smashed it out in 2days! I usually read books, but when I heard it was narrated by MC and she actually sings in it, I was sold on the audiobook. This book highlights her resilience and resourcefulnes; turning bad situations into positive ones and lastly her never flailing determination to be successful with her music.

Amazing!!
Even if you’re not a fan you will love this book! Truly inspirational, spiritual, honest beautiful story. Been a fan since day one and feel so lucky to have seen her twice in concert and now to listen to this angels voice telling her story
