Summary

I wanted a family with Cash.

We had dreams - building a house, kids, a dog, and, yes, even the white picket fence.

I don’t remember anything about my husband. Not the wedding or the vows we shared. The past 10 years were erased, but with time, they’re supposed to come back.

But what if this isn’t your typical case of amnesia?

What if I’m not supposed to remember?

What if I was meant to forget?

Maybe I don’t want my old life back.

Because if the accident hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have uncovered the truth.

Losing my memory wasn’t tragic.

Losing my memory was fate.

Pulled me in

WOW, what a ride! I went into this book blindly as I love Gia Riley and was completely surprised. Not exactly suspense, but the build up was incredible. Meadow is in a terrible car crash and when she comes to, has no recollection of her life. Her husband Cash is there to help her, and does his best to get her back on track, but something doesn't seem right. And from there we get a story like no other. I can't imagine having no inkling as to who I am, what I like, and who I know, let alone not recognize my husband. Riley portrays Meadow in a way that sometimes I like her and sometimes I am frustrated with her, exactly as she is going through the motions of her life. I love her dreams, and when the new man pops in them, can't wait to see where they will lead. Written from 3 points of view, the story is full of angst, exasperation, suffering, and finally some closure. I was caught up in the story and had to keep listening to find out what really happened, and would Meadow get her memory back. A great addition to the story is Mimi too, though I think I am just soft when it comes to the grandmother type characters. Full of good advice and that warmth we love, Mimi is awesome.

Sarah Puckett recounts this story in such a way that I was drawn in from the start. She had me feeling sorry for Cash, then frustrated and so invested in Meadow's recovery that I couldn't stop listening. She brings it all, full of emotion and voices so clear and passionate, it's like I know these people. She brings out the best in this story and kept me on the edge.

Hooked from the beginning

This book had everything, addiction, memory loss, secrets and lies and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
After an accident Meadow loses 10 years of her life, she can’t remember but knows something is off. She turns to drink and her husband Cash puts her in a hospital to get clean and then they can rebuild their lives together. The problem is Meadow’s dreams are very vivid and none involve Cash, in fact, it always involves a man she is “yet” to meet. Her doctor!
I was hooked from the beginning and was not expecting the turn at the end. Wow!
Sarah Puckett narrated this fantastically as always.

Brilliant!

Wow, this book pulled me in form the beginning. It kept me questioning and on my toes guessing what was going on. It was like an emotional roller coaster and I loved every second of trying to figure it all out. I couldn't figure out if Cash was a good guy or not. I don't want to give to much away but I would definitely recommend this book. It's so good. 🎧AudiobookObsession

Definitely interesting

When I started with this book, I was so excited and really, it was seriously interesting, and the narration was so spot on, but then the story kind of lost me and got dragged all over the place, so it took me ages to finally finish it. But to sit and finish it in one go, it would be really good.

Until We are Gone

I can only assume how terrifying it can be to wake up from an accident and remember no one. This book is so realistic with the struggle that comes with this situation and I loved the way it worked it’s way through the problem. Beautifully written and narration is perfect for this. The book gives us the perfect happy ever after.

WOW!!!

WOW, What a story! It did not turn out the way I thought it would have. From start to finish I was in shock with the way the story unfolded.

The author Gia Riley; my first book that I've read written by her, really did a number on this one here. It had mystery. Secrets. Lies. Deception. And, I love it all. This is definitely a book I would recommend for others to listen to.

The narrator Sarah Puckett did a wonderful job herself with the different characters.

I liked the final ending, although it was a surprise to me. It was hard to see which way it was leaning towards because it could have gone several different ways. The decision weighed on who you would believe.

Until We are Gone

This was the first book I’ve read/listened to by Gia Riley. While the plot line had a lot of potential and the amnesia aspect was a big draw I felt like all the twisting and turning left me unable to really side with one character or the other. In the end they were all unlikable for different reasons, but I still felt more for Cash than Meadow.

The audio by Sarah Puckett was well done, I’ve listened to a few of her narrations and they have all been solid.

Emotionally taxing but good

This book made me want to take Xanax. It was very well written and performed with a twist you don't see coming but it drained me emotionally all the way to the finish line. You spend most of the book frustrated at both the H/h but especially the h for being a alcoholic who refuses to get help and change after a horrific accident that makes her lose her memory. You feel almost equally frustrated with her husband for enabling her alcoholism and bad behavior. The h is morose and depressed and spends most of her time intoxicated and refusing to try and recover her memory. You feel sorry for the H and wonder why he doesn't just let her go. But all is not as it seems in this book and there are players in this book who's story adds to the fuller picture of this couple.

I love that this book gives you a good plot twist and the narration was excellent but it is a long depressing road until you get there.. If you like a really angsty book then this one is for you.

Wow!!! Incredible Listen

Until We are Gone by Gia Riley is full of so many emotions. I went into this listen not knowing what to expect, and I was blown away by the layers of emotions. Meadow definitely had some issues, and I was drawn to her story. Cash intrigued me as the husband forgotten. Mimi was my most favorite character in the story, although she was a minor part. I found this listen to be both heart-wrenching and heartwarming at the same time. Part of the story is cathartic, as it is told from three viewpoints. The performance by Sarah Puckett is amazing. She delivers such realistic emotions. This book deals with the topic of alcohol abuse and recovery, and has some very good points to ponder. I really liked how the author wove the story and its unexpected twists. I requested this book from AudiobookObession and have gladly written this review. I will definitely listen to more by this author and narrator.

I really wanted to love UWAG

I really hate to say this, but I did not like this book. I have loved everything Gia Riley writes, but Until We Are Gone felt like a hot, jumbled mess, and that's not her at all. I felt zero connection to the characters. I hated Meadow. There was building of relationships to explain why things were the way there were. I'm still so confused even after finishing and that ending was so disappointing. I'm going to go on and on about the things I didn't like, so I'll just close this out by saying I personally did not really enjoy this book and does not reflect the amazing writing and storytelling by this author.

Sarah Puckett is always so easy to listen to. I really love her voice and I finished this book in one sitting. Even though I didn't really love the story, I think that if your truly determined to read this book, listening to Sarah Puckett narrate this crazy story is highly recommended. She does a fantastic job.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Twisty, Turny, Edge of the seat ride

Overall, I enjoyed this story. The story kept me questioning and interested, and well written. But for some reason, I wasn't connected with it. The truth kinda surprised me, and I was happy with the outcome. I think my disconnect may have been the narrator. I was told the characters were somewhere in their 30's (though the book doesn't say??) but their voices sounded barely 20, so I had a hard time believing some of the stuff they went through.

Unique Story Line with Fantastic Narration

Hmmm....so this review is a little tricky to write. I was instantly hooked into this story from the start and was constantly trying to piece together different parts of the story to figure out what was going on and where the story was going to lead. I absolutely loved the first 75% of the book, maybe even a little longer, but I struggled with where the story ultimately led and with what the big secret was, so honestly I was a bit disappointed. There were some parts of the story that were a little confusing and some parts that could have been a little more developed, but as stated I really did enjoy it. I just wish the big reveal was a little different, but the writing was strong and the narration was amazing!!! Sarah Puckett is a rockstar who has yet to disappoint. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Emotional

This story is so intense it's emotionally draining . After a horrific accident , Meadow comes out of a coma not knowing her husband , Cash.
Meadow forgetting her past 10 years! Cash trying to convince Meadow that they had a happy married life. Meadow felt something wasnt right. She turned to alcohol to dull her pain. This story has tender moments , a husband desperately trying to get the wife back he loved. There are many ups ad downs and a twist I didn't see coming. . Gia Riley touched on the struggles of alcoholism , addiction and rehab with compassion . Sarah Puckett Narration was powerful and emotional for all the characters. # 🎧Audiobookobsessionreviewer

.... I don’t know what to say

Ugh. Rating this one is difficult. I didn’t not like it by any means. It definitely hooked me and I had to keep listening. However, I didn’t love it either. Or at least i don’t think i did? Some parts were slow and monotonous but I couldn’t skip because i didn’t want to miss anything. All of the slow parts became necessary as the story unfolded so I’m glad I didn’t. It was well written but I did guess the “twist” quite early on so it wasn’t really an edge of your seat ride for me. I simultaneously felt empathy for and was seriously annoyed by every character in the book except Mimi. I also disliked and then liked every character in the book (except Mimi. You can’t hate her). I was rolling my eyes at some absurdity but then rationalizing it and really thinking about the possibilities at the same time. It has a great/perfect ending but I still somehow felt wronged. Maybe I expected more intensity? Less internal monologue going over every minor detail and more action? I wish I could put my finger on what I seem to feel was lacking if it’s actually anything at all. Anyway, it certainly evoked emotion and made me think. Obvious from this review, it ended with me very confused but not about the story itself, just about my reaction to it.
I read another review saying the discord was perhaps with the narrator and maybe that’s the case with me aswell. While she was easy to listen to, maybe her technique and emotional range just didn’t work for me with this one.
Overall, while I have never had so much difficulty reviewing a book, I did enjoy this one. I really really did even if I felt something was missing. I would absolutely recommend especially since I can’t seem to stop thinking about it....

rating didn't come easy

The beggining felt like a gray cloud, I have no other words to explain it may be because it begins with a heroine struggling with an addiction that she didn't fight or the push over husband that only had me feeling sorry for him, for about half the book there was no steam, no hope and no clear direction.

second half while there was no real mistery just secrets and lies with the intro of this stories real Hero our heroine finally begins to sound more like someone I could enjoy reading about, releate with and the gray cloud of the start gave me an understanding of why she held this different attitude, so more than a recomend I'd say it's worth reading and pushing thru if you have the patience because after it all unraveled I did enjoy the ending.

Reality verse nightmares

The narration was very well portrayed. The narrator spoke with individuality with each character. I was hoping for a better “plot twist” yes, the ending is shocking but I found myself wanting the book to just end but it just continued on and on. As you go through the journey with the characters and peel back the layers of their reality finally it’s discovered. It’s not as shocking and I missed the wow factor I crave when reading a novel like this.
