Summary

Benjamin

I never imagined I'd get this kind of news. Suddenly, I have a nephew that is an orphan. I can't understand what happened and I still half-expect my sister to walk through the door at any moment. He's never leaving my arms again.

Yet here comes Mr. Big Shot, ready to steal the last bit of my sister that I have away from me. I'll do anything to keep him. Even if that means seducing the guy that disappeared over a decade ago. His Hollywood dreams were more important than us small-town yokels. Wasn't that what he said?

Sure, he's a charmer, but he's not getting my nephew.

Micah

When I donated my sperm to let my best friend and her wife have a child of their own, I never expected that I'd end up involved in their son's life. We'd made an agreement long before the procedure took place and, though I'd wanted to be involved afterward, I had adhered to it. He was their son. I knew they'd take care of him.

At least, until something terrible happened. Now I have to face fatherhood with...him.

God, I've loved him since I was old enough to know what love is. He's never had a clue. Now I'm supposed to cope with him so close, still ignoring what I want?

This surprise baby novel is full of heartbreak and wholehearted affection. It contains steamy scenes that should only be heard by adults. Eighteen and older, please.

Great storyline

I really enjoyed this book. Randi brings the characters to life so so well. The storyline is like nothing I’ve read before. Great chemistry between the characters.

Such a cute story

When things go terribly wrong, two men come together to put things back together.

Micah and Ben have had secret crushes on each other for what seems like forever, so when the situations line up perfectly and the moment is right...

Unscripted Hearts tackles some tough issues: life, loss, death, drinking, sexuality, and what it means to really put others first.
And it's done really well.

I enjoyed this story. My only complaint is that it was narrated by one person, when I think two would have been better. However, the narrator did a great job of giving everyone a voice.

Ben, Micah and Ross

This is a story of a young boy who loses both of his mothers, he has an Uncle who is a twin to his mother and Micah is an actor who was the mum's best friend, who is Ross' biological dad, the awful tragedy brings them all together. Really enjoyed this book and the narrator Randi Johnson, Randi's best work so far, truly enjoyed listening

They both had one goal

Unscripted Hearts by Peter Styles, narrated by Randi Johnson is an M/M romance and in a sense is a second chance romance. It was a sad circumstance that reunited Micah and Benjamin and a loving little boy that was the glue that bound them.

Ended better that it stated

The story started off slow and dragged. But once I got into it and got to know the characters it got better. This is a different type of M/M romance then I like, but I think I could read more like this. I like the new father approach to the story and the relationship between father and son. It is realistic in the wording and feels. slow start but ended great. This is my first book read by Randi Johnson and I enjoyed listing to his voice.

Sweet and sexy M/M romance

I have read a few male male relationship stories and I really enjoyed this one. I feel like the author did a good job and making the story seem relatable to real life. The character development was also great we not only got to get to know who the character was but how they felt. The narrator was enjoyable to listen too and did good with differentiating between the 2 characters.

Good story, enjoyed the narration a lot!

A good story - Ben's sister and her wife die, leaving a son (Ross). The kicker is that the child's custody goes to her best friend Micah, who is his biological (donor) father. Both Ben and Micah have been attracted to each other in the past, but never acknowledged it. Now they have to learn to co-parent Ross. There are issues, conflicts, but both men get through to their HEA.
Randi Johnson made this an enjoyable listen - he has a good pace and distinct voices for the characters. This is the second time that I've listened to Mr. Johnson and he's definitely a narrator whose work I would listen to again!

I received a copy for my listening pleasure. The opinions expressed are my own.

Teenage crush comes back!

An actor on the rise suddenly has responsabilities as a daddy. A construction worker just lost his sister. The result is two friends looking after a kid, with all their flaws and qualities while guarding their hearts. It's endearing and a sweet journey for the MCs. Loved the angst and strong feelings provoked by their situation.
Good narration... Loved the kids voice so sweet.

Terrible story

The story constantly contradicted itself. There was no chemistry between the characters. There was no consistency in the characters, or their circumstances. And I have to question some of the practises with regard to placing an orphaned child, taking said child onto a building site, handing him off to a stranger just because he was the sperm donor.

This read like a first draft where nobody pointed out inconsistencies and issues.

The narrator was the only thing that kept me listening. He's much improved with every new recording. Hopefully one day he'll get a book worthy of his talent.

Terrific Story & Listen! 4.5 Heartfelt Stars🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Unscripted Hearts is a well written and well told story of two people brought together under sad circumstances and fell in love. Ben’s sister Lindsey & partner were tragically killed in a car accident, leaving behind their son, Ross. Micah Lindsey’s best friend growing up was the sperm donor and while he never met him was his next of kin. Ben and Micah who secretly crushed on each other did hit it off right away. But they did not see eye to eye on everything, there was a lot of angst & drama between them and issues that needed working out. Their story out the emotions, in addition to the drama there are some sweet moments, loving moments, some fun ones and a few hot ones between the two as they try to work out parenting and their relationship. I recommend this great story there is a lot of heart in it!

I listened to the Audible edition, Randi Johnson is a terrific narrator. He performs the voices of all the characters, brings them to life and gives them their personality. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to! Thanks for another great listen🎧

GREAT STORY!

I absolutely loved it! The narration was superb and gave the story that extra flair. The author did a great job with the character builds and plot. It will keep you entertained. I have listened to numerous books that were narrated by Randi Johnson and I can honestly say that this is his best yet (I always enjoy his narration anyway)! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Good Story

It was a good story. Ben's twin sister and her wife die leaving her son Ross to be raised by Ben and Micah, Ross's biological father. The relation ship starts out a little rocky, but they over come the issues that arise .

Hard won romance

This is an entertaining story. There are a few editorial inconsistencies, but they didn't really interfere with the story.

Ben's twin sister, Lindsay, and her wife are killed in an accident and leave behind their toddler, Ross. Ross is biologically Micha's son, as Lindsay was his best friend and they asked him to be the donor for their child.

Micha moved to LA to chase his dream of being an actor, and his career is about to take off. Ben owns a construction company and seems to be in a better position to take care of Ross. However, as time passes, things aren't always what they seem.

It turns out that both our MCs are imperfect, and must compromise in order to co-parent successfully. As the story unfolds, so do the feelings between Ben and Micha. But Ben is stubborn and set in his ways, and Micha is torn between his obligations to his new family and his career.

Overall, this is a back and forth almost love/hate relationship, but in the end we get our HEA.

I have listened to this narrator several times, and I have to say that this is probably the best performance I have heard from him yet. His characters are very well differentiated and the nuances of the story are spot on. I especially enjoyed his choice of voice for Ross. I thought it was great!

Good and Different

Not what I expected but I liked it. I can hear the difference in narrator Randi Johnson from his work a few months ago. He makes the characters come alive for me and I enjoy the combination of Randi and author Peter Styles.

Excellent

This is a lovely mm romance. A beautiful story about a guy who helped his best friend get pregnant only to find out years later that she and her spouse had died in a car accident. Her brother is already filling in as a surrogate father and sparks begin to fly.
This is an extremely well written book and the characters are very true to life.
The narration is excellent.

Great Story, Great narration

This one started a bit slow, but turned out to be one of the best I've listened to. Story was a fun old crush, new love tale that started with tragedy. My heart went out to little Ross over his loss, and Michi being thrown into fatherhood in the middle of his biggest career break ever was a real wake up call for him. Ben also faced a hard role in raising his nephew after losing his sister. The story flowed well and Randi Johnson made it so realistic. He mastered the voices of all the charactors very well and is really beginning to shine. This was his best yet.
I was gifted this book in exchange for a review. I will listen to it again and will follow Peter Styles and Randi Johnson in their careers.

Instant fatherhood

Ben loses his sister who is also his best friend in an accident. She was also Micah's best friend and he had donated sperm to her so that she and her wife could have a child. Ross is the young son. Both men never expected to become a parent but both are willing to do so. This is a story of 3 people trying to cope with incredible loss and trying to adapt to a new way of life. Peter Styles does an excellent job of showing us how these characters deal with all of this chaos in their lives and how it brings new feelings for Ben and Micah. It is a compelling story of loss, rivalry, consideration, compromise, new awakenings, facing one's fears, realizing one's priorities, new love, and most of all love for a young boy and each other.

Randi does a good job of storytelling.

Through #audiobookobsession I volunteered to leave an honest review of this book. I highly recommend it. It will have you crying, wanting to shake some sense into Ben and Micah, falling in love with Ross, wanting to hug and hold all 3 characters, and loving to be apart of their journey.

Interesting and Different

This was my first Peter Styles's book. Ben and Micah and Ross's story is interesting, and different than what I have read before. Randi Johnson did a good narration of this story.
