Summary

You live in your dream house, but there's no mortgage. No alarm clock, no boss, no bills. No claims on the day's time other than what you choose. It is making more money before breakfast than you made for an entire week at your last job. It is a crazy expensive car parked in your garage, a victorious symbol that your dreams no longer sleep in fantasies, but are awake with reality.

Make no mistake, this life exists. I know, because it has been mine for nearly 20 years. And in a few short years, it can be yours as well. Better, you won't need 5 tedious decades of thankless jobs, buzz killing frugality, and patient investing with our trusted friends on Wall Street.

Unfortunately, you have been scripted to believe that such a life is out of your reach, or only possible for a certain type of person. Someone with a certain college degree, a certain amount of VC funding, or a certain contact list of connected friends from Stanford. I am here to tell you, that none of it is true.

While I have been entrepreneur most of my life, I am no one special. You won't read about me over at Tech Crunch or in some Silicon Valley newsletter. While I have been an internet entrepreneur since the old "you've got mail" AOL days, I have never been funded by venture capitalists, I have never had a payroll with more than 5 people on it, and I have never studied computer science at school.

Despite this, I am able to create profitable businesses that create the type of unscripted life described above. We are talking five- and six-figure monthly profits with valuations in the millions. Although I have had two successful exits, do not

So much better than Tony Robins

Exposes all the crap that fools most people. A must read for entrepeuneurs. So much inspiration from this. This guy is not an energy sucking narcissist like so many so called gurus are. Thanks MJ, so glad I found both of your books!!

More of the same straight talking

If you liked the millionaire fastlane then this is the natural progression. I have just finished listening once and plan on listening again at least twice to cement the ideas.

Superb content, but audio is not the best format

Not a 'get rich quick guide', but a framework that lights the path to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

For those of you who are likely to take notes, I would recommend the physical book or ebook because you will end up having to rewind a whole lot to keep up.

Lost and bored

Perhaps, as I listened in my car I was easily distracted. It seems round chapter 35 onwards there is a lot of repetition. That was the end of my listening pleasure. So boring. Perhaps I will read a summary someday if it falls in my lap.

Exactly what I would write!

Love this guy, he is a legend in my eyes... He writes and speaks inspirationally... on my top 10 list to meet and add value too.

Great book. Probably one of the best books on making money.

This book makes Rich Dad Poor Dad look like a children’s novel. Unscripted is like the red pill for aspiring entrepreneurs. And you might not like the truth.

Not trying to devalue Rich Dad Poor Dad and the countless other get rich books.

But if you’re short on time and money then read, Millionaire Fastlane ( same author) and Unscripted and you’ll thank me later.

More of the good stuff

At first I missed M.J's voice. Then I understood, the new narrator is brilliant and the audio quality is top notch. No more cheesy 90s rock music from first book but I'll survive.

First part of this book is very similar to the first book. But patience lead to the good stuff!

I will make this short. Read this book as well as Millionaire Fastlane or be a dummy stuck in the dark running around in your hamster wheel... forever

A wake up call for those wanting more out of life

MJ has done it again.
Unscripted is a prequel to The Millionaire Fastlane, in my opinion, although both books stand alone.
The book covers all the underlying things required to get the right mindset and create valuable businesses that serve and add value to the world, while allowing you to become wealthy and be untethered from a J.O.B.
Read/listen to it multiple times to allow the message to sink in.

Making money, yeah. Cut the rant though.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Absolutely. I love the author's "let's get it done" philosophy, but later on in the book it just feels like a rant. He even starts backlashing about fat-shaming.
Honestly, I just want to learn about entrepreneurship. I don't need a social commentary (complete with excessive cussing).

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Despite my previous comments about the book turning into a social commentary, it's well worth the purchase.
I wouldn't call this a story, but the information offered in three quarters of this title makes it worth while.
Like I said, however, it later turns into a social commentary (yawn).

Have you listened to any of Scott Thomas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but this voice actor is amazing. He kept me up late at night with his enthusasm -- despite the title being extremely long.

Who do you think would benefit most from listening to Unscripted?

Anyone looking to get ahead in life, or planning on opening (or wanting to improve on) their business.

Any additional comments?

Overall, the book is worth the purchase. It is well written, and narrated fantastically.

I just want to turn it off when I start to hear the rant about people the author doesn't believe are putting enough into life. Frankly, he sounds like a bit of a bully near the end; but that won't stop me from taking good info and using it to my advantage.

I read 120 books / year. This is n*1 !

Don't let the 18 hour time-price-tag discourage you.

I believe in Reality and this man knows Reality!

What did you love best about Unscripted?

No non sense, No BS, in your face Unscripted Reality! I do believe MJ DeMarco should do stand up comedy. I say this in a good way, because what MJ converses is what our current society is scripting for us all. I am in a scripted life, but there is a way out. If you are willing to fight for it! Thanks: MJ

What other book might you compare Unscripted to and why?

Millionaire Fast Lane : Same author. More of the same great knowledge for a producers lifestyle.

Have you listened to any of Scott Thomas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I personally liked MJ DeMarco narration from the original book. I will say Scott Thomas's vocals did not dissuade the listening. He did a great job of conveying the message or information in a regal and hilarious manner.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There is to many to note. I will be re-listening to write them all down. Impact millions, Action Taker vs Faker, producer vs consumer, plus many more.

Any additional comments?

I don't believe in being a zealot about anyone idea or thing. That said, MJ comes across in a realistic truthful way. It is packed full of knowledge, history and humor. I would say he is doing better than me and allot of other people out there. This in it's self makes it worth a listen.

Priceless, most valuable book in startups

It's an amazing journey to listen to the book. I admire the author for not caring about being politically correct and gave his advice plain and simple.

Top 5 Entrepreneurship of all time!

I don’t ever usually read two books by the same author because most authors no matter how good they are have so much bleed over from their other books that it’s basically like reading the same book over but reworded a little bit. However, this book stands a lone from MJ’s ‘the millionaire fast lane’. Anyone wanting to start a business should read both of his books. There are so many terrible “do what you love” or “think yourself to success” books out there and they’re all the same, bullcrap! This book isn’t like any of them. It’s the reality of business and entrepreneurship, no sugar coated but brutally honest.

A dense listen with some nuggets

I have a friend who loves this book and has read it three times. It took me a few weeks to get through it once on Audible. There's some good stuff in there, but I bet the book could be edited to half it's size without losing anything.

Must Listen!!!

I really enjoyed The Millionaire Fastlane, and this book is a great follow up to that masterpiece. There is a fair bit of strong language, but if you can look past that it is well worth the listen. Candid, honest to a fault, and just telling it like it is. I loved the dry sarcastic overtones, they serve to emphasize how ridiculous modern economic slavery really is. Narration was well done, very professional and easy to listen to, so I'm pleased with the overall experience.
