Summary

Would you live a lie to hold onto the one you love?

Dean and Jason are best friends, like brothers since boyhood, now architecture students and college roommates. They've always had each other's back, but when one walks in on the other with another man, everything changes. How do you explain to your best friend that he's the one you've always wanted, that until now your life has been a lie?

Desperation and shame are two dirty words that run through Jason's veins. He carries the scars from a wayward priest who stole his innocence and left him shattered. Meanwhile for years he's watched Dean pursuing woman after woman, as his own heart slowly breaks.

When their world blows apart, they learn the powerful bond between them has more fire than either understood. Can two broken souls find the light in their darkness and come together to make a whole, or will sins of the past be forever unforgiven?

An engrossing story

A lovely warming story that keeps the attention to the end, brilliantly narrated to the end

Absolutely beautiful

I loved this book. It was perfectly narrated. The characters are superb and the HEA is perfection.

Some reviewers got hung up on the SA but it’s a fact that Priests have SA children so the topic can’t always be avoided. The SA scenes are a small part of the book but necessary because that awful situation explains so much of Jason & Dean’s journey. Please don’t let it put you off this superbly well written story.

horrible characters being horrible

both men in this story are just awful though one of them gets a pass as he's dealing with a lot of trauma.

the "straight" guy is just an absolute asshole and treats his best friend like shit when he suspects he's gay. and he never really redeems himself.

it also never seems to end. I gave up when there were 3 hours left. I don't think I'll try this writer again.

I made it to the end but I didn't care about them

First of all this book needs a warning. There are A LOT of difficult scenes. if you like that good for you. I did not.

There was an awful lot of explicit rumpy-pumpy in this book. It's not that I have anything against it but a bit of suspense between those scenes would be nice, you know like to get you warmed up, and maybe, I don't know, to incorporate some plot. The normal tropes were there: men who won't come out because they are sportsmen and all the action heroes have big assets and perfect bodies. This was written in 2017 but it feels terribly dated. The Dean character demonstrated appalling behavior when he found out his friend was gay. The JJ character still loved him because he had a perfect body. What? Oh, and watch out ladies there's a good amount of nastiness to women in this book too.

I made it to the end but I didn't really care whether the MMs did or didn't.

The narrators did a good job.
