Summary

Editor's Choice in The Bookseller.

Based on the 'world's spookiest podcast' of the same name comes Unexplained: a book of 10 real-life mysteries which might be best left unexplained....

Demonic possession in 1970s Germany.

UFOs in Rendlesham forest.

Reincarnation in Middlesbrough.

Richard Maclean Smith delves into these mysteries and many more, with a supporting cast bringing to life the unexplained occurrences in this special immersive audio edition.

Based on one of the most successful paranormal podcasts ever, with over 10 million streams and downloads to date, Unexplained consists of 10 chapters focusing on a different paranormal event, from Australia to Germany, the UK to Zimbabwe, using the stories as gateways to a journey beyond the veil of the uncanny, exploring what they reveal of the human experience.

This special immersive audio edition is narrated by Richard MacLean Smith and features full cast re-creations of the unexplained events.

Taking ideas once thought of as supernatural or paranormal and questioning whether radical ideas in science might provide a new but equally extraordinary explanation, Unexplained is The Examined Life meets The X-Files

Just as excellent as the podcast.

Very different from the rest of it's genre. Unexplained is thoughtful, well-researched and resists the urge to dumb down like so many other titles before it.

I loved this book.

I couldn't stop listing to this book, if you like intresting and weird stories with some scientific explanation at the end along with parts that cannot be explained and leave the wondering how is that possible. this is the book for you.

Gripping Mysteries

I have really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. I have previously listened to the podcast and was so excited to find the book available on Audible. It's well narrated and not dramatic which I like. I've read that some find this to be dry but I prefer it this way and wish there were more books like it. The mysteries themselves are gripping and fascinating. The only downside is that I've listened to it all now and wish there was more. Looking forward to more publications from this author.

Surprisingly good

Most books on the paranormal are dissappointing - either new age clap trap, or ultra cynical dogmatic debunking.... This book however is both erudite and open minded... and is all the more chilling and fascinating for that fact. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent analysis of both supernatural events and life itself

Much more than an analysis of unexplained supernatural events, The author reaches further (if that’s possible) into an analysis of life itself - offering a mature and rational approach to seemingly inexplicable events and how they are tied to our everyday lives. If you’re not sure this is for you check out the podcast first. Excellent good narration by the author who has a natural approach - given he has had the time to develop his narrative style though his podcasts. The best in this genre by a mile.

Amazing and a little mind blowing

Oh my, my head is racing after the final story and thinking about time. This more a book around Philosophy then scary stories. Worth a read / listen if you want your mind a little bit blown by what could be it even is.
