Summary

Love him or loathe him, ‘Iron' Mike Tyson is an icon and one of the most fascinating sporting figures of our time.

In this no-holds-barred autobiography, Tyson lays bare his demons and tells his story: from poverty to stardom to hell and back again.

In his first autobiography, ‘Iron' Mike Tyson pulls no punches and lays bare the story of his remarkable life and career.

Co-written with Larry Sloman, author of Antony Keidis's best-selling memoir Scar Tissue, this is a visceral, and unpause-able story of a man born and raised to brutality, who reached the heights of stardom before falling to crime, substance abuse and infamy.

Full of all the controversy and complexity that you would expect from a man who delighted as much as he shocked, this is a book that will surprise people and reveal a fascinating character beneath the exterior of violence.

If you think you know all about Mike Tyson, listen to this book and think again.

Why didn't he read it?

If Mike Tyson had read it himself I would have enjoyed it much much more.

An extremely open account of a rollercoaster life!

Would you consider the audio edition of Undisputed Truth: My Autobiography to be better than the print version?

I have never read the printed version so I cannot really comment, but the narration on this audio edition is excellent.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Undisputed Truth: My Autobiography?

I honestly couldn't specify one particular part of the book, the whole story is gripping. From Tyson's childhood memories, training, fights and his battle with women, drugs & alcohol. A fantastic listen!

Which scene did you most enjoy?

As I said above, it's difficult to identify specific parts, however, the accounts of his relationship with Cus D'Amato and how he built Tyson both physically and, probably even more so mentally, into the fighter who became the youngest heavyweight champion of the world was brilliant listen.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both! Tyson really has lead an eventful life and this book gives a "warts & all" account of it. He tells the stories of his off the wall life episodes and gives honest explanations of his mental state throughout. It has amusing and extremely moving parts.

Any additional comments?

Brilliant narration and an excellent listen!

They say you should never meet your heroes...

in the case of the Undisputed Truth by Mike Tyson, this adage rings true for me.

All credit to Mr Tyson for the baring of his more than a little tarnished soul: this is a real 'warts and all' litany of misdemeanours, felonies and abuses of privilege, many of which he appears to be unjustly proud. The narrator did a great job of allowing the listener to hear a badly done to Mike Tyson coming across throught the performance.

If you believe that an disadvantaged upbringing excuses all then go ahead and enjoy. If, like me, you have at any time admired Mike Tyson the boxer then think twice about selecting this book. There is little to admire about the man and, I am quite ashamed to say, I now find myself with no sympathy for his issues and problems and absolutely no way to empathise whith anything that he has been through.

With the benefit of hindsight, this is a book that I would rather not have selected and given 20 hours of my life to. That is not to say that it is badly written or performed, or that it does not flow well; it is simply that, having met my hero though this volume, I find him to have not only feet but a conscience of clay!

what a whinger

I persevered until the end but Tyson comes across as a whiney so and so, his muslim beliefs are so hypocritical he should bin them , an unlikeable person and someone Id never want to meet. I was glad to get to the end of the book. It was read well though.

Listen on 1.2 speed

Need to listen on that speed so it’s actually at a normal cadence. Brilliant book, seriously candid, stories are obscene.

That saying is spot on...

“You can take the boy out of the Ghetto, but you can’t take the Ghetto out of the boy”

He clearly had a horrific start to life, and he was lucky to not only have the skills, but someone noticed it!

I do wonder, if Cus D'Amato was younger when meeting Tyson, and was able to guide him through the glory years, if Mike Tyson would have had a life that was balanced and not the car crash?

Excellent book, hats off to MT... a warts and all account of a life full of ups and downs!

One of the best autobiographies so far

I am not familiar with boxing at all but the book is fascinating. The story is catchy and narration brilliant. For me as not English-speaker is very important to have clear reading and I got it. Easy and fun to listen, despite heavy weight of the story itself. I live just a comfortable life and have no idea that such circumstances exist, this all was beyond my imagination, so shocking. Good luck, Mike! I hope you will live one happy life after all.

Iron mike warts and all

Superb listen tyson lays it all out warts and all drugs sex boxing more drugs the number of coke and sex binges are uncountable. There is so much humanity to this animal who would think the baddest man in the plant was so shy and had so much anxiety. If your a boxing fan of the 80s and 90s then this goes without saying nothing is missed every fight paints an amazing picture and is brillantly narrated by josh Henry i hope mr tyson is doing well i recently heard he has taken DMT and it has changed his life yet he has relapsed; would love to read a follow up in the next couple of years

KO realism

If I had bought the print version I would have struggled to put it down.
The story telling is so visual, it’s a roller coaster that sent me from intense laughter to tears and back chapter by chapter.
The man is a living legend.
The pain and demons are real.
We probably have a Mike Tyson hidden in all of us.
Thanks Mike for your gut wrenching honesty.
I wish you and your family love and peace.

Tyson fan before and more after reading the book

I've always been a Tyson fan since I was a kid. He will always be one of the most exciting boxers to watch in my mind. I got to know more about him after reading the book and wish him all the best. Hope he finds peace and happiness--that I believe is just as cool as finding success in the limelight. Cheers!! 👊😉
