Summary

Love him or loathe him, ‘Iron' Mike Tyson is an icon and one of the most fascinating sporting figures of our time.

In this no-holds-barred autobiography, Tyson lays bare his demons and tells his story: from poverty to stardom to hell and back again.

In his first autobiography, ‘Iron' Mike Tyson pulls no punches and lays bare the story of his remarkable life and career.

Co-written with Larry Sloman, author of Antony Keidis's best-selling memoir Scar Tissue, this is a visceral, and unpause-able story of a man born and raised to brutality, who reached the heights of stardom before falling to crime, substance abuse and infamy.

Full of all the controversy and complexity that you would expect from a man who delighted as much as he shocked, this is a book that will surprise people and reveal a fascinating character beneath the exterior of violence.

If you think you know all about Mike Tyson, read this book and think again.

Why didn't he read it?

If Mike Tyson had read it himself I would have enjoyed it much much more.

An extremely open account of a rollercoaster life!

Would you consider the audio edition of Undisputed Truth: My Autobiography to be better than the print version?

I have never read the printed version so I cannot really comment, but the narration on this audio edition is excellent.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Undisputed Truth: My Autobiography?

I honestly couldn't specify one particular part of the book, the whole story is gripping. From Tyson's childhood memories, training, fights and his battle with women, drugs & alcohol. A fantastic listen!

Which scene did you most enjoy?

As I said above, it's difficult to identify specific parts, however, the accounts of his relationship with Cus D'Amato and how he built Tyson both physically and, probably even more so mentally, into the fighter who became the youngest heavyweight champion of the world was brilliant listen.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both! Tyson really has lead an eventful life and this book gives a "warts & all" account of it. He tells the stories of his off the wall life episodes and gives honest explanations of his mental state throughout. It has amusing and extremely moving parts.

Any additional comments?

Brilliant narration and an excellent listen!

They say you should never meet your heroes...

in the case of the Undisputed Truth by Mike Tyson, this adage rings true for me.

All credit to Mr Tyson for the baring of his more than a little tarnished soul: this is a real 'warts and all' litany of misdemeanours, felonies and abuses of privilege, many of which he appears to be unjustly proud. The narrator did a great job of allowing the listener to hear a badly done to Mike Tyson coming across throught the performance.

If you believe that an disadvantaged upbringing excuses all then go ahead and enjoy. If, like me, you have at any time admired Mike Tyson the boxer then think twice about selecting this book. There is little to admire about the man and, I am quite ashamed to say, I now find myself with no sympathy for his issues and problems and absolutely no way to empathise whith anything that he has been through.

With the benefit of hindsight, this is a book that I would rather not have selected and given 20 hours of my life to. That is not to say that it is badly written or performed, or that it does not flow well; it is simply that, having met my hero though this volume, I find him to have not only feet but a conscience of clay!

Brutally honest. A great book.

Mike Tyson should be proud of this book. It goes deeper than any other biographies I have read (and i have read a few).

what a life, what a man.

Always been a fan of Tyson and seen the movies based on his life and his one man show etc but this book delves so much deeper into his life. I wish him well for the future. I would highly recommend this book.

A thoroughly entertaining listen.

It makes me wonder how he is still alive or in prison. A man who has led life in the very fast lane, this story pulls no punches and is a brutally honest account of a man who came from nothing to earn 100s of millions and still found a way of squandering it all.

Tyson fan before and more after reading the book

I've always been a Tyson fan since I was a kid. He will always be one of the most exciting boxers to watch in my mind. I got to know more about him after reading the book and wish him all the best. Hope he finds peace and happiness--that I believe is just as cool as finding success in the limelight. Cheers!! 👊😉
