Ireland in the 1840s is devastated by famine. When tragedy strikes their family, Eily, Michael and Peggy are left to fend for themselves. Starving and in danger of the dreaded workhouse, they escape. Their one hope is to find the great-aunts they have heard about in their mother's stories. With tremendous courage they set out on a journey that will test every reserve of strength, love and loyalty they possess.

Poor narration

As an Irish person I found the twee Ireland accent hard to listen to without cringing.

I wish I hadnt listened

I heard this book read aloud in primary school man years ago and remember it fondly. However, I am very disheartened now that I have heard it read again; badly. It should gave remained a fond memory - sadly no longer.

Amazing!

I am 7 I loved this story. I can’t imagine doing what these kids did. That is so hard for kids to have to do. They are so brave and desperate.
