This is Under Milk Wood as you've never heard it before.

The last completely original audio-only production of Thomas' masterpiece, Under Milk Wood, was in 1954 (two months after Thomas's death). It has been reprised countless times since then for stage, TV, and in book form, but this wholly new version, headed by Iwan Rheon as First Voice, keeps Thomas' original script but brings a bold, modern soundscape and authentic Welsh voices to his vivid storytelling.

Dylan Thomas was born in 1914 in Swansea, Wales. Considered to be one of the greatest Welsh poets of all time, Thomas is largely known for his imaginative use of language and vivid imagery in his poems and radio plays.

This is a beautiful, modern rendition of Thomas' most famous work. They've kept the original script and characters, but the score gives it a more cinematic, modern feeling. Iwan Rheon is wonderful as First Voice, and the rest of the cast equally brilliant. Certainly the best adaptation I've heard of UMW.

I have not words enough to describe his skill, except to say, don’t miss out! Read it now and over again in the future. I love the original BBC version of Under Milk Wood with Richard Burton, but Iwan Rheon gives him a run for his money as First Voice with an absolutely fantastic performance (alongside a great collection of Welsh voices). The modern music and soundscape really envelop you in the weirdness of Thomas' world - I was transported along with the story and thoroughly enjoyed it.
