About this listen

Max and the others did what most believed was impossible: they defeated the final tower floor. With that task complete, they face a new challenge.

Every member of the party: Max, Tanila, Cordellia, Fowl, Batrire, Sog & Rakonath; is now a god. But the new title doesn't come with the unlimited power they expected their world's creators held.

Their new task set before them: create a world and help it thrive, growing stronger as it expands. It sounds simple, until the truth is revealed. Danger awaits them after a brief period of protection. Other gods will seek to defeat them and take their power.

Can Max and Bob overcome this new struggle?

And don’t forget, their daughter's birth is soon.

Being a baker would have been far easier than what comes next.

Why would you change the narrator? I haven’t finished it yet, but that’s really annoying me.

Why?

I went into this one with high hopes as I love the series, but was a little disappointed with the latest instalment.

Firstly, we have a change of narrator. It’s not the end of the world, and the narrator is fine, but it was jarring at first and while a good enough narrator, I miss John.

Secondly the series moves into a new phase with our protagonists now being gods. This brings a different dynamic and a different way of interacting with the system, meaning for the most part the action adventure we are used to is lacking.

Lastly there’s some focus I. max’s daughter and honestly, I don’t resonate or have any empathy for her.

Bottom line, I’ll get the next one and see if it shifts more back to the earlier feel, if not, the next book may be where I nope out of the series.

The new narrator was a little jarring but not enough to give up on the series.

i see a lot of people being bothered by the change of narrators and frankly, i never actually noticed mainly because i dont care about the voice as long as the words are clear and the narration is good, which it is in my opinion.

What bothers me is this book going over motivations, and explore characters you already knew from previous bools, all while dealing with none of the threats revealed in the previous books except for the last which feels forced by the narrative.

Book drags on certain parts needlessly.

I was quite enjoying the series until I got to this book. I understand quite a lot of these style books have slow down to change or build the world slightly more in a book or so, but it’s ashamed of the change of the narrator, he made it such a sock to get through the narrators lack of range with female voices all of them sounding like whiny teenage girls and his overall dull life was performance made this actual book to get through unfortunately for the care of the same narrator I will not be carrying with this book series

A shame for a good series
