Summary
Would you - could you? - uphold the law at the cost of those you love?
Falcio val Mond, First Cantor of the Greatcoats, is on the brink of fulfilling his dead King's dream: Aline is about to take the throne and restore the rule of law once and for all. But for the Greatcoats, nothing is ever that simple.
In neighbouring Avares, an enigmatic new warlord is uniting the barbarian armies, and, even worse, he is rumoured to have a new ally: Falcio's old nemesis Trin. With the armies of Avares at her back, she'll be unstoppable.
Falcio, Kest and Brasti go racing north to stop her, but in those cold, treacherous climes they discover something altogether different - and far more dangerous: a new player plans to take the throne of Tristia, and the Greatcoats, for all their determination and skill, may not be able to stop him.

Enjoyed all four books
I really enjoyed these books. Not quite Brandon Sanderson or Tad Williams but almost. Kept me listening when ever possible. Loved the humour and a great narrator.

Absolutely amazing
I'd never heard of these books or the author before stumbling accords them on Audible. I'd been on the lookout for new books after exhausting all books by Brendan Sanderson, Robin Hobb, Brent Weeks, Jim Butcher, Joe Abercrombie, Brian McClellan, and as many other fantasy stories as I could get my hands on.
So when I picked up these books, I was hoping for the next series to hold my attention over the course of many weeks, and I particularly enjoyed the story of the Greatcoats, and their ode to the swashbuckling greats.
I look forward to reading more by Sebastian de Castell :).

Heart breaking and addictive
I didn’t review the first books in this series, too eager to get to the next book. I loved the characters, but more than that I revelled in the way the writer described his main characters silent thoughts, the description of his emotions - these things are what gave the books their ‘filling’ for me; oh and yes, I cried a lot. I will definitely read more titles by this author.

A fitting finale to an epic series.
Sad for the end of the series. Gripping, funny and heartbreaking. Falcio, Kest and Brasti are idealistic, wise-cracking heroes who long stays with you.
Sebastien de Castell conjured a fantastic world and characters and Joe Jameson’s brilliant narration is the icing on the cake!

Absolutely Fantastic Series.
I am saddened that this truly amazing series has come to end, I laughed and I cried through out the quartet, especially in this fourth and final volume in the swashbuckling fantasy action series the Greatcoats. I know I have a few short stories to read next, but already I'm missing these amazing characters. This is a brilliant ending to a wonderful story. Sebastian Castell sucks you right in from the very start to finish with his world of God's, Saints, his famous Greatcoats looking to bring good to the land of Tristia from Dukal tyranny. In the Tyrants Throne Falcio, Brasti and Kest find themselves in a new country after being tipped off with an imminent invasion from their neighbours. But during their investigation things always turn to shit for our infamous trio. Betrayed and on the run again, war is coming to Tristia. Can our heroes save their little country that they would give their lives for. Check it out you will absolutely love it, just a warning though, you will need a box of tissues for this one because it really pulls on the oul heart strings. I hope the author returns to the Greatcoats in the future, definitely one for a reread. The narrator Joe Jameson gives a steller preformence through out the whole series, I very highly recommend...😁🔥💥🗡💙
