About this listen

He was never beaten with belts. He was never starved. But he was abandoned in the cruelest way imaginable—by silence, indifference, and rejection from the very people meant to protect him.

Two Parents, One Child, No Love is the unflinching true story of a boy forced to raise himself in a home that never wanted him—and the man he chose to become.

Mark Anthony invites you into the shadows of his childhood: a father who saw parenting as duty, not love; a stepmother whose cruelty was masked by civility; and a mother who visited once a month, just long enough to be a stranger.

This memoir is not a cry for sympathy—it’s a testimony of survival, self-definition, and the defiant act of breaking the cycle.

If you’ve ever felt invisible, unwanted, or unworthy—this book will remind you that healing is possible, even from the deepest scars.

I'm not a big fan of dark novels and stories, but something in this one piqued my attention. The story isn’t the typical one of physical abuse but rather a psychological one, with situations I would never have imagined could leave such a deep mark on a little boy. Even though this is really sad, there’s also a bright side in how Mark digested all this sadness and lack of love, turning it into a resilient strength that helped him become a whole man.

The narration fits perfectly with the genre of this audiobook, and I’m grateful the narrator is a human and not a bot.

If you like stories of resilience, this is a great one.
