Detective Finnegan Beck is called to a crime scene - a remote house near the rural Irish town of Cross Beg - where a dog lies whimpering beside his beloved owner’s body. At first it looks like a burglary gone wrong. But Beck spots something his colleagues didn’t. The victim, Eddie Kavanagh, was wearing his smartest clothes. He’d brushed his hair. Summary
When family secrets are unearthed, a woman's past can become a dangerous place to hide....
After the death of her adoptive mother, Ava Saunders comes upon a peculiar photograph, sealed and hidden away in a crawl space. The photo shows a shuttered, ramshackle house on top of a steep hill. On the back, a puzzling inscription: Destiny calls us.
Ava is certain that it's a clue to her elusive past. Twenty-three years ago, she'd been found wrapped in a yellow blanket in the narthex of the Holy Saviour Catholic Church - and rescued - or so she'd been told. Her mother claimed there was no more to the story, so the questions of her abandonment were left unanswered. For Ava, now is the time to find the roots of her mother's lies. It begins with the house itself - once the scene of a brutal double murder.
When Ava enlists the help of the two people closest to her, a police detective and her best friend, she fears that investigating her past could be a fatal mistake. Someone is following them there. And what's been buried in Ava's nightmares isn't just a crime. It's a holy conspiracy.

Full of suspense
A great story, full of gripping twists, superbly narrated by Angela Dawe. She has many voices and brings each character to life. Ellen Green’s story is many-stranded but all merge well. Thoroughly engaging, this is well worth having. Definitely an author to follow.

Awful
Just a badly told story with a great premise but so badly told that you cannot really enjoy - I listened to the end because I had paid for this and I was listening when running but had I been reading it I would not have bothered to finish it PLUS the reason for the original murder was never told to us - very frustrating ! The ending was totally ridiculous and again , no real reasons given - do not waste your time !

The reader was great, the story not so much
Listened to the end... The readet did an excellent job of making it enjoyable, but the story was loaded with inconsistencies and things that made absolutely no sense. The plot was intriguing enough to keep us listening, but not enough to buy this author again.

Creepy and suspenseful.
I loved this book. The obvious mental difficulties and foolish decisions some people made (or perhaps so it seemed they made) that thread its way through the plot makes you feel uncomfortable. The French accents were excellent and even made you know which person was speaking. Definitely gave me the creeps.

Brilliant performance but threads left dangling
this level of intrigue is usually reserved for spy Thrillers and political cover-ups and it was well told. However, the end was quite disappointing to me. I will let you be the judge. I just felt that many threads were left hanging and they were important threads. Threads that made the story either worth reading or not. but a very enjoyable read overall. Thank you.

Interesting.. left me wanting a sequel
What made the experience of listening to Twist of Faith the most enjoyable?
The key was the story.. I love a good mystery..
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The story is unique, different.. twists and turns everywhere. I wasn't surprised, but I was surprised. It kept me wanting more and I believe that is important in a book. I was trained to be a cop and an accountant so I saw most of it, but was pleasantly surprised by it. Nice spin.
What about Angela Dawe’s performance did you like?
At first I wasn't quite sure of her voice, but then as i got used to it.. I kind of enjoyed it. Recognized it.. made it interesting. But maybe work on the men's voices or changing it up a bit.. I know.. hard.. especially when she has a good voice as it is. I think there's a real talent here for different dialects.. it's just getting used to them.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.. almost.. sometimes you do have to work and go to the bathroom.. all though a smart phone and headphones could have solved that issue.
Any additional comments?
I'm waiting for the sequel.. follow up to this story. I'll most likely purchase it. It was interesting enough to keep me wondering... and that's a hard thing to do.

Waaay too much Catholic crazy.
Well, it IS twisty, I'll give it that. Don't even start this if you can't devote a lot of brain power to following and unraveling a whole bunch of plot complexity. It was a very hard work. I have liked Angela Dawe's previous work and her performance here is full-range, from the slight French lilt of Ava, to the heavier accents of her adoptive mother and aunt, to the very irritating "Joisey" accent of the intrusive friend Joanne and the almost valley girl voice of Ross's fiance. (God save us from brides-to-be and wedding planning.) .
