The last American, postapocalyptic government, Commerce City, owns 16-year-old Eric Skye, who wants nothing more than to maintain his life in slavery and to keep a watchful and protective eye on his twin sister.
The ruling dictator, Minister Taybor, obsesses over creating an international alliance to insure his own survival. To put down a rebellion and prepare for international visitors, he decides to reassign work for Commerce City's orphan boys and girls. Eric is taken away from his twin sister and pressed into military service.
Eric's life twists and turns with every day he's away from his sister. Only his love keeps him from surrendering to the anguish he suffers. Only love makes him never give up on his sister, the only family he's ever known.
