At 38, Zavier “Cade” McCade has it all: a military career he can be proud of, a successful business, and a close-knit group of family and friends. A former Army Special Forces captain, Cade leaves the military to create Custos Securities, a burgeoning protection agency that provides unparalleled security for both civilians and corporations across the US.

After a string of disastrous relationships - and a narrow escape from an abusive partner - Braden Cross is finally putting his past to rest. Combining both his passion for baking and his knack for business, Braden owns the Sugar n' Spice Cafe with his best friend, who concocts exotic coffees and teas that pair perfectly with his decadent confections.

When a stalker sets his sights on Braden, the young pastry chef's world is turned upside down. More frightened than he cares to admit and not knowing where to turn, Braden is relieved when Cade steps in to offer his protection. Caught up in a maelstrom of threats, break-ins, and vandalism, the two draw closer together.

Braden eventually realizes he can trust Cade with his life, but he finds himself wondering...can he trust him with his heart?

Contains mature themes.

I loved Cade’s absolutely devotion and need to protect braden, it was so beautiful, only thing I had was how fast they fell in love was a bit of a whiplash to me, but overall I really loved this, Eric sucked major balls but hey-I look forward to book 2!

God, these two…were just breath taking.

Listening in shorter sessions the narration wasn’t as monotonous as some reviewers stated but in longer spans it does become a little draining. And some moments it didn’t quite fit Braden, however I did enjoy the story overall.
I read this series a while back and picked it because I wanted to listen to something undemanding.

Better narration than led to believe

Good start of a new series. These men are amazing. I just love Braden his determination and sweet core. 'Cade' is just a big caretaker who needs to let his man in.
Narration is a bit stilted and could be livelier .

Enjoyable and story stops suddenly at the end, ready for book 2.

The narrator isn't the best, monotone no emotion, deffo should have had 2 narrators.
