About this listen

Misha doesn't remember what it's like to have a home.

He left Russia in search of a better life, but when he didn't find it, he left the human world behind. Now he lives in the woods and eats garbage out of trash cans. At least he's safe here as long as he stays a bear.

But he keeps going back to one particular house, to one particular guy. He can't seem to stay away. JT feeds him breakfast and says he wants to help, and Misha slowly, begrudgingly begins to trust him. Before long, Misha's living in his spare room and learning how to be human again . . . and lusting over his new roommate.

JT is everything Misha's always told himself he can't have. He plays hockey, he's rich, he looks amazing in a swimsuit, and he turns out to be much less straight than Misha assumed. As their summer idyll takes a thrilling, steamy turn, Misha begins to tentatively put down roots in JT's hometown of Sault Ste. Marie, and think about what might happen when the summer ends.

But Misha's past hasn't left him behind, and when his secrets abruptly come to light, he risks losing everything about his new life that he's come to cherish . . . especially JT.

Contains mature themes.

Very nicely written story, well balanced in all aspects, not overly dramatic or emotionally overwhelming also it doesn’t have the usual plots of shifter’s books ( the mating, the stereotype sex scenes of shifters….) delightful and interesting, I definitely recommend it.

Beautiful story

I wasn't really sure what I was expecting, but I was really pleasantly surprised. This isn't like most of the titles I choose. It's a character based slow burn where the two MCs are really the focus without many other characters.

The MCs are at a lake property that's pretty secluded. There are shifters and people in the town but they're really secondary to the story. The characters get to know eachother over time so it's easier to see the relationship building. I listen over two days while pottering around my house and this was a great one to listen to in longer blocks. I'm not sure I'd go for this if you listen 30 mins at a time because of the slower pace. Also, there is spice but it's certainly not filled with it so if that's your thing, you might not like that it's half way before you get any of it. That said, this was better than expected and the narrator was good too.

Enjoyable slow burn

This was an absolutely beautifully written slow burn love story with fabulous characters and raw emotions wrapped in a gripping story and I loved every second. The narration was superb.

Excellent story 👏👏👏

It started off well & really sweet, however Misha's character was not the greatest & he became too unlikeable towards the end.

JT moves heaven & earth to help Misha, including opening his home to him, clothing him, feeding him, helping him make friends, driving him around, helping him find a job, giving him security in his life & going above & beyond to help him when he gets in dire straits & how Misha repays him, is by telling JT that it's none of his business?!? Say what now?!

Misha's character is both brattish & manipulative from the start, but what he does after his past catches up to him, makes him incredibly juvenile, self-absorbed, inconsiderate, unbearably ungrateful, self-pitying & plays the victim, even though JT has done nothing but help him even AFTER his (very serious) secret comes out!

I genuinely didn't get what the author was aiming for with Misha's attitude... none of his actions were understandable or even sympathetic as he just became a pure self-absorbed brat!

It's an real shame, because the book did have a lot of promise 🤷‍♀️
