#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts delivers a thrilling story of family secrets and unexpected passions, set against the high-stakes world of championship thoroughbred racing…

Kelsey Byden always believed that her mother was dead. But now, after all this time, she has discovered the truth: Naomi Chadwick is still alive - after spending years in prison for the murder of her lover.

Now, at Naomi’s Virginia horse farm, Kelsey is trying to sort out a lifetime of deception - and her feelings about her mother. The bonds of love can be fragile...as Kelsey learned from her recently ended marriage. But as the two women rebuild their relationship - and Kelsey finds herself swept into an unsettling new romance - she must decide once and for all who she can trust, and who threatens to betray her...

"Roberts paints her story with a broad brush, but its colorful canvas, easily identifiable heroes and villains and swirling action add up to another winner for this popular author." ( Publishers Weekly)

If you have read or listened to any of Nora's books you will understand when I say that this particular book doesn't rank up with her best but it's still worth the time to listen.
If are new to Nora I would still recommend it but know that there are better stories out there so don't let it be your last!
The horse racing angle of this book makes a nice change from the straightforward horse ranch. I enjoyed hearing about the Kentucky Derby, the racing and the horses. Such beautiful descriptions of those wonderful animals, aspects of the story will bring a tear to your eye and a lump to your throat. This will make up for the predictability of the romance - from very early on you just know self made man from " wrong side of town" will get well to do lady from "right side of town".
I like fast moving stories so this one doesn't disappoint on that score although some of the villains of the piece are easily spotted. But there are still some minor twists that keep you interested
So many honourable characters can be a bit cheesy but isn't a happy ending always nice?
Have a listen and enjoy!

Classic Nora Roberts book, easy to listen to…but…the narrator was poor, making it difficult to follow. She did the characters well but the general narration, especially at the beginning of the book nearly had me stop listening.

these latest Nora books don't seem like her style at all... this book makes the main character seem a bit silly or stupid. The reader has a droll boring voice and honestly the entire thing is lifeless. Worst book by Nora ever and I'm shocked and disappointed.

the Narrator is boring
