An addictive, spicy enemies-to-lovers western romance

Welcome to Scandal, North Dakota, where loyalty runs deep and rivalries never die—especially between a country girl and a city boy who’s forgotten his roots…

Calder

I swore I’d never return to my family ranch and brewery. Those memories are best left buried in the dust. But when my father passes, it’s on me to sell up. The problem? Meredith Winslow—the girl running my father’s business. Except she’s no longer a girl… In those tight jeans, with a hotter-than-hell smirk and a fiery temper to match, she’s all woman. And she’s refusing to leave.

Meredith agrees to show me the ropes so I can help out until we sell. It’s exhausting work, so why can’t I sleep at night? Is it the paper-thin wall between us, the question of what she’s wearing to bed, or the thought of taking away the only home she’s ever known?

Meredith

I’ve worn my boots to the bone at Crossroads Ranch, feeding the horses by day and serving beer to the locals by night. Then brooding, bossy, sex-in-a-suit Calder turns up to kick the door closed on my life with one perfectly polished shoe.

This is the place I grew up wild and free. Calder says we have to leave it all behind. And I can’t let that happen…

Because somewhere between the eye rolls and heated arguments, early morning starts turn into late night flirting. Calling last orders turns into roaming hands and finally knowing what his stubble feels like against my neck. Riding side-by-side with our legs brushing turns into a hard, fast, stolen moment against a fence post…

Our chemistry burns hotter than any North Dakota summer. But this man might take everything from me—and if he keeps looking at me with those sparkling brown eyes, I’m worried I might just hand it right to him…

Audioboook Review:
Narrated By Michelle Sparks & Troy Duran.
It's been a while since I've heard Troy and I always love the way he gives his character life. The Dark and gritty and just hot haha. Michelle was great as Meredith, she had the fierce and strong and broken woman down to the T.
So Walker has given us one h3ck of starter for the new series and it's one of her hottest books so far.
This was Enemies To Lovers, Small Town and City Cowboy Tropes.
Calder left his family ranch and his mums liquor business 20 years ago with his 2 younger brothers and never looked back. I totally understand their pain and hate towards Meredith's sister because of how it all turned out. But poor Meredith doesn't deserve it because she was just a kid.
20 yrs later Calder and his 2 brothers are expected to come back to their father's and step mums (Meredith's sister) funeral.
Meredith has just lost the last 2 family members she had and now is trying to keep things going. She devoted herself in keeping the bar and ranch going and she hopes to continue to develop until Calder turns up with different plans of his own.
These 2 instantly connect but the hate is big enough for Calder to be spiteful to her instead.
I loved that despite not feeling any stronger, Meredith still gave back with wit and strength.
As they're living together, they both start to see the real them and things shift. Their relationship was gradual but so good and felt real.. But he is planning to sell and leave her behind, can he really do that to the woman he is falling for?
Meredith has so much to give and has brilliant ideas but it seems it will all fall on dead ears and she might just lose everything, including the man she is falling for.
I loved the brothers inputs at times and how easily they all fitted back into their small town. But they're all successful business men and have no plan to stay here..
The town people were great additions and I loved Sawyer Meredith's best friend. I can see something happening regarding Sawyer and 1 of the brothers 🤭.
This story had a lot of grief, loss, pain, heartbreak, finding themselves again found family, banter and lots of spice.
I can't wait for the brothers stories.
