Summary

Dar Roberts, corporate raider for a multi-national tech company, is cold, practical, and merciless. She does her job with razor-sharp accuracy. Friends are a luxury she cannot allow herself, and love is something she knows she'll never attain.

Kerry Stuart left Michigan for Florida in an attempt to get away from her domineering politician father and the constraints of the overly conservative life her family forced upon her. After college she worked her way into supervision at a small tech company, only to have it taken over by Dar Roberts's organization. Her association with Dar begins in disbelief, hatred, and disappointment, but when Dar unexpectedly hires Kerry as her work assistant, the dynamics of their relationship change. Over time, a bond begins to form. But can Dar overcome years of habit and conditioning to open herself up to the uncertainty of love? And will Kerry escape from the clutches of her powerful father in order to live a better life? The answer to both questions is no—unless these two women can strengthen and cement the tenuous bond that forms between them. First they must face storms that neither expects . . . and live to tell the tale.

Contains mature themes.

Worth the 24-year wait

I read Tropical Storm in 1999 and still have the original copy sitting proudly in my bookcase.
I love the Ddar and Kerry series and the narration in this book really brought all the characters to life - credit to Elizabeth Ashby for doing such a fantastic interpretation of these characters.
Melissa Good wrote something so wonderful that it is timeless.
A must listen. Hoping the rest of the series will be on here soon too.

Up to every expectation

I loved reading this book series and hesitated to listen in case I was disappointed. I had no need to worry. The narrator did a great job and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I really hope the rest of the book series will now follow on Audible.

More Dar and Kerry please Audible

An oldie but such a goodie. A lovely long listen that I wished would never end and has gone in my favourites to listen again. Romance, intrigue and adventure, every aspect of this audiobook is excellent. Both writer Melissa Good and narrator Elizabeth Ashby could hardly be better. I so hope Audible brings us the next in this series very soon.

27 hours of perfect bliss.

If you were around during the earliest days of fanfiction, then you'll know the name of Melissa Good as being one of the best authors out there.

I have been hoping for a few years that Dar and Kerry would make their way into the Audible library, I had the fanficton, I then bought the books, but since I now have arthritis in my hands, holding a physical copy of the stories for any length of time gets too painful.

I couldn't press the purchase button fast enough when I saw this was on Audible.

The narrator is somebody I haven't heard before, but once I settled into her reading style, I thoroughly enjoyed her take on the story.

Do I already know the synopsis? Yes.
Does it ever get old? No.

So I think that sums up how much I love the Dar and Kerry books.

I could wax lyrical for hours about the clever nuances and plots weaved into a story that you can escape into with ease.

However, to sum it up. It's a coming together story. It's a story about overcoming bigotry. It's a story of fun. It's a long story, but you never want it to end.

It's just 27 hours of pure bliss. I truly hope that the other stories in the series make it to the Audible catalogue. I, for one, would purchase every single one.

I hope you enjoy this first story as much as I do.

GREAT. ❤

This is a touching beautiful in depth romance that follows their life struggles. It follows them closely and builds up the characters wonderfully and shows who they truly are. The narration was brilliant and told the story well, a great listen and I definitely recommend this audio book. ❤

Worth the wait

I first read this book many years ago and still love it. Dar and Kerry are wonderful characters, the storyline is entertaining and the narration is good too. I can’t wait for the next story in the series.

Wonderful Storytelling

It was my first book by this author because I really like audiobooks and this was the first one as an audiobook version and I must say what a wonderful book and what a great storyteller Melissa Good is. The narrator did a wonderful job as well. Enjoyed the pace of the story and the characters. Hoping for more audiobooks by this author! 🙏🙏🙏

The blonde, the brunette, the blonde, grrrr

Good story, a little long winded, well narrated. Why oh why do authors continue with excessive references to the characters hair colour? It's irritating and becomes cringe inducing after a short while. If this doesn't bother you then give this book a go. On the whole I enjoyed it, despite the obvious.
