Summary

Sometimes you can't help falling in love, even when you try to do the opposite...

Successful fashion blogger McKenna Bell has spent far too long protecting herself after the way her ex-fiancé left her at the altar for a college chick he met the night of his bachelor party. Loving again, trusting again, well, that's just not in the cards. Especially now that her ex is back in town with his new woman, demanding custody of McKenna's favorite creature in the whole world - her dog. No effing way. McKenna's had enough of him, and she decides to even the score by finding her own hot young thing - a Trophy Husband. Sure, she's only twenty-seven, but doesn't that make it even more fun - and infuriating to her ex - to pursue a younger man? When she declares her intentions on her daily blog, her quest quickly skyrockets in popularity, and that's when Chris enters the picture, and he's got all the assets. He's handsome, successful, and turns her inside out with a kiss to end all kisses, the kind that makes you feel like a shooting star. But loving again could mean losing again, and it's so much easier to focus on getting even, isn't it? Unless, you just can't help falling in love. Which means McKenna will have to come face to face with what she really wants in life - protecting her heart from hurt, or letting go of her fears of a new beginning.

Sass, Witt, romance....it had it all....

Overall a Great performance from the narrator, i thought she suited the character and I enjoyed listening to her.

The story.

I had a great time as it was lauren's style of sass, witty, hot totty, with some great lol moments.
Determined to nab herself a trophy husband after her jerk of an ex fiance jilted her, for yes.... a trophy wife. Mckenna a great and successful blogger announces the search on her blog and well..... Why the hell not i say!! Damn. Many a smile on my face and oohing and ahh moments listening in the car as dates and the search unfolds......

Chris, a Gamer who she bumps into, as her search gets going is drool worthy, but he is successful. Does that rule him out? Had some full on romantic butterflies going on, the type you get from a good easy chic lit read you know what i mean? Made me feel good..... made me smile.

Oh.... and that ex, how very dare he do what he tried to!!!!!! Lauren nearly had me emailing her in protest!

Love the banter

What made the experience of listening to Trophy Husband the most enjoyable?

The whole thing! I love the story, the characters and listening to them really made it come alive and come together. It's great to hear the story told with all the emphasis and inflections that author intended.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chris. He's sweet, funny and sexy. His determination to win over McKenna and stop her from making a mistake was alpha and endearing.

Which scene was your favorite?

At the cafe/restaurant, when they are bantering about Green Eggs and Ham. It was funny, but also very real. I like the playful tone and the obvious chemistry between the characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. I could tell you, but SPOILERS. So let's just say that the ending was wonderful. It was an excellent conclusion to a fun book and my romantic heart swelled and swoon and sighed (and all that good stuff).

Any additional comments?

I love Lauren Blakely's books - all of them. Trophy Husband is an excellent book - and once again, I enjoyed the way it inter-connected with the other works in her series. It's a special treat for readers to be able to notice little hints about other Blakely characters. I would recommend not just this book, but all of her works. They are fun, upbeat, sexy stories with loveable characters that you just want to be friends with.

I loved Trophy Husband!

Trophy Husband is a sweet, funny romantic book about hurt, betrayal, revenge and finally healing and finding love that you didn't think existed again. McKenna was hurt deeply when her fiancée left her the day before their wedding and eloped to Vegas with a young bimbo from his bachelor party. McKenna comes up with a plan to play the same game that men do and find herself a young "trophy husband". She has this contest on her blog to have the audience help her pick the perfect trophy husband. As you read this book you'll find out that her game isn't as easy as she thinks and she just may fall hard!

Different from my usual, but I loved it

This is a great book. Young adult, and a fun story. Loved McKenna and Chris and their love story. The fashion blogger is not something I can't relate to, but it is a cute story. The game they played was somewhat childish, but today's "reality based" stories are the current fad, so this story fits in well with today's current interests. To me this was a different kind of story, and a very enjoyable one. As usual, Lauren has a gift for story telling. Love her books and can't wait to listen to more. The narrator was also unique. She does a great job portraying a youthful couple with her youthful voice.

One of My Favorite Lauren Blakely Stories

Where does Trophy Husband rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very high up there. I absolutely adore this story, and hearing it read makes it even more enjoyable. There's just something about hearing a book read that makes it even more engaging.

What other book might you compare Trophy Husband to and why?

Any of Lauren Blakely's other stories, especially the Caught Up In Us series. They're truly romance with a bit of naughty, and great characters, the type that you'd want to hang out with yourself.

What about Samara Naeymi’s performance did you like?

She got McKenna perfectly. When I read 'Trophy Husband' and 'heard' McKenna's voice in my head, it sounded remarkably close to how Samara depicted her. Inflection, tone, everything, just spot-on.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Sadly, time was not on my side to allow this. On the bright side, I got to enjoy the experience for even longer. :-)

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend any of Lauren's books on audio. They're a great way to bring the story even more alive.

Funny, Realistic and Sexy

Where does Trophy Husband rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Trophy Husband is up there with my top 5 Audiobooks of all time - the voice suits the character which isn't always the case. It completely worked.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Trophy Husband?

“May the next man in McKenna's life be one of those heroes in a romance novel - rich, good-looking and perfect in every way.”

What does Samara Naeymi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator brings McKenna's story to life - she gives it heart and feeling. Her voice really made me feel like I was part of the story and not just an observer.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book is fresh, current, funny, sweet, genuine and truthful. I listened to this on the drive to and from work everyday making the commute less painful! It made me laugh out loud several times.

Any additional comments?

Our Heronie, McKenna, is everything single women want - successful, comfortable money-wise, sexy, fashionable and has a great circle of friends. She makes us laugh, shows us her tender and insecure side but does all this with decorum and inner strength - it is truly wonderful to have a stong female lead in a romance novel! I would definately reccommend a Lauren Blakely novel to anyone needing lifted from a book slump!
