Destiny called… and Terry hung up

Introverted computer programmer Terry Williams’ life is not exciting. It never has been, and he is A-OK with that. So, the last thing he expects on a hiking trail at the park is for Truck-kun to roar up and vehicular homicide him straight into

When he wakes up with a head stuffed full of new information and people calling him the hero, he has to accept that his old world is lost to him. Of course, that doesn’t mean he needs to buy into this whole hero gig. Terry’s read enough isekai to know that’s a job best reserved for the most masochistic of suckers.

Promptly fleeing destiny, Terry finds himself dodging noble plots, avoiding a vengeful church, and being stalked by a monster with the heart of a coward and the stomach of a glutton. But he has an edge. While sometimes the victim of xianxia, manga, and anime tropes, he also sees them for what they are. The only question is, can he manipulate them well enough to survive and keep from getting sucked into a war he wants no part of?

Some parts I really enjoyed and some parts not so much. Overall though was worth the credit. I just wish it was longer.

If you like the humor of He Who Fights With Monsters and Dungeon Crawler Carl then you'll probably love the humor in this series.

I was hesitant to give it a go due to the cover art and synopsis making it seem like it'd be, well, not for me. Yet after giving it a listen it was surprisingly enjoyable. The MC is OP yet spends all his time simply sayin "hell no" to all the drama and tropes that come his way.

It's all relatively fast paced and I was surprised to learn the series has both people who gain levels and people who cultivate. The MC is so determined to avoid tropes/drama that it, obviously, just leads to him being involved in OTHER tropes/drama. His personality goes from timid to paranoid very quickly.

All in all not a bad read, the second book wasn't as good simply because half of it takes place in a dungeon and that dramatic change of pace felt off with how rapid fire the story is. Other than that looks like it'll be an enjoyable series.

I'd rate it 7.5/10

it is great, excellent story and lots of fun. it is a great Segway from the author and I look forward to the next books of this series and the other one he has out. 😊😊😊

I was reluctant to try this because these kind of stories become "too much" very quickly and the fact that 10 hours isn't a great credit to book value. I found that it's well worth it; Story and writing is amusing, narration is great and i found myself not being bored for a second.
