Summary

Three months ago, I lost my foster sister, Sienna, to the darkness. As in blood magic and chaos and general mayhem. No one saw it until it was too late, but I should have. Now I have a wounded heart and soul that I can't even reveal to anyone around me, because I'm supposed to hate Sienna with the fiery passion of the justified - and I do. I just wish I didn't feel so lost without her, so unsure of the path I thought I had carved for myself, and so outclassed by the powerful Adepts constantly by my side these days. I'm not even sure if they're with me for my own protection or because my shiny new powers are rare and valuable. Assuming that I ever figure out who or what I am, and how my magic actually works. Even chocolate can't save the day every time - just most of the time. At least I've got that going for me.

Long

Just lots of words that become boring after a while. Just kept on listening because I bought it. Will NOT be buying the next!

Awesome read!

This second book in the series was just as good as the first book. I really enjoyed the storyline, the different magical creatures and types of magic that were talked about in this book. The storyline was wonderful and the narrator was awesome! Highly recommended.

Couldn't put it down

I loved the first one in the series but the second only got better. I continue to love the humor, their strange relationships, the sexual tension, the mystery of Jade's origins (we get to find out who her daddy is in this one), and the cupcakes and chocolate-related comments. It's urban fantasy at its best mixed with a great dose of romantic comedy. I absolutely devoured his book (pun totally intended) and can't wait to see what happens next and find out more about the vampire and the sexy shifter. Warning: this book ends in a cliff-hanger. Normally I would be upset but because I already bought the next in the series I'm okay with it. Totally worth losing sleep over.

Wish I could return it.

I was really hoping for a good book, but I can't tell which is worse, the storyline or the narrator.

Detached voice in a way?

She did a great job with the story, but I wasn't a fan of the main characters pace of voice that she chose. She did a great job with differing between different characters though, and giving them all their own feeling. She also seemed a little old for the main character. But- I loved being able to listen to the story at work.

Beautifully Written. Narrator needs training.

What a great story. Meghan Ciana Doidge creates such an enchanting world.
Unfortunately, the narration creates so many distractions, I found it difficult to listen to.
Caitlyn Davies reads with a sing-song rhythm typical of beginners, starting sentences with a high pitch, dropping the middle and then drawing out the final words - of nearly every sentence.
Breath support seems to be a problem too. With awkward pauses in the middle of sentences, it felt like she was gasping for air.
Overall, these errors in technique destroy the sense of being told a story and leave the listener imagining the reader struggling through the script.
If you don’t mind being read at for a dozen or so hours, go ahead and buy the book on audible. Otherwise, read it in print. It’s a wonderful story.
