Summary

Do you believe your struggle with anger stems from the wrong behavior you see displayed in your children? The knee-jerk reactions and blowups you're facing are often a result of a bigger set of "triggers". Some of these are external, like a child's disobedience, back talk, or selective hearing, while others are internal, like an overflowing schedule, sleep deprivation, or perhaps your own painful experiences from childhood. Triggers: Exchanging Parent's Angry Reactions for Gentle Biblical Responses examines common parenting issues that cause us to explode inappropriately at our children. Moving beyond simple parenting tips on how to change your child's behavior, authors Amber Lia and Wendy Speake offer biblical insight and practical tools to equip and encourage you on the journey away from anger-filled reactions toward gentle biblical responses.

Amazing!

I loved this book! Definitely a great biblical parenting book for moms who find themselves triggered to yelling and anger. I’ll be buying a hard copy to have in my home as well! :)

Great book! Applicable for most moms!

This book truly was a God-send. It helped so much to know that I am not alone in my struggles as a mom, and that many of us have anger "triggers". God can change us, we can become the parents we want to be for our children. The audio book was so well-done. I appreciated the authors narrating themselves. The chapters were interesting and short enough to digest in bite-sized pieces. I will be going through the book and work book again. Thank you!

Very enlightening and encouraging

I think this was a very good book about a problem that many, including myself, struggle with. Yelling is a sin and these incredible ladies do a wonderful job at bringing that to light as well as giving you excellent suggestions for solving this problem. I do however, disagree with a few things they said including children's whining not being a sin. Paul was very clear in his epistles that grumbling and complaining are contrary to the will of God. Aside from a few issues like that, I think they did a good job.

Life changing.

Wow, what a life changing and life giving book. The most powerful words from this are.."you are not leaving a legacy of being an angry mom but letting your kids see you transform into a mom who depends on God's grace" im so thankful I have that perspective now and I've learned im not perfect and I may fail but not to hold myself under the pressure of guilt but seek forgiveness for my actions and repent doing my very best not to do it again. This book has already made me a better mom!

Gets to the heart of the matter

this book is like a balm for the parenting soul. the reflections back to Scripture, understanding, empathizing, and much needed words in little bits, day by day, spoke so deeply to my heart. thank you for these much needed words.

Exactly what I was looking for

I wasn't sure what to expect from this magical book, but I was at my wit's end, trying to get a handle on my anger over small things that children naturally do... I felt worse about yelling at them for an accident then I ever did about anything they actually did, yet I couldn't stop myself from bubbling over with each mistake, act of independence that was inconvenient for me, etc.

Then this book came along, and listening to it was like a breath of fresh air. It's been almost a year since I read it, and I could count on one hand the number of times I've lost my temper in that time, and each time, I quickly diffused it and handled things well because of the inspiration in this book. Children are a blessing, not a burden, and we make a choice to have them, so they deserve gentle parents who love them and see them as they gifts they are.

You will find daily inspiration in this book, and may want to listen to it again and again like I do. Different topics are handled each day, and I was convicted over and over again.

Must Read moms!

this book was a great encouragement to me as a mom of four little ones that would have never described herself as angry before coming a mother. The gentle truths and kind encouragement and realistic ideas to incorporate into our everyday lives was a blessing! thank you for the great ideas, the truth of the word of God, prayers and your vulnerability in sharing your stories!

such a great book for parents

Such a great book for parents of relentless strong-willed children. And good ideas on how to start reframing our mind & expectations, as well as the way we approach our children.
