Best-selling author Tracie Peterson begins a compelling new series set on the 1840s Frontier. Grace Martindale has known more than her share of hardship. After her parents died, raising her two younger sisters became her responsibility. A hasty marriage to a minister who is heading to the untamed West seemed like an opportunity for a fresh start, but a cholera outbreak along the wagon trail has left Grace a widow in a very precarious position. Having learned natural remedies and midwifery from her mother, Grace seeks an opportunity to use her skills for the benefit of others.

Northbound to Freedom
This is a Christian romance where a young woman must choose to defy her father in order to preserve her self respect and happiness. She is forced to flee her family and the privileged life she has known and travel north. She endures many hardships but finds purpose and love. This is a light and easy listen with a good message and happy ending.

Excellent character development
Her characters were well developed and it helped the reader identify with them! The bad guy was bad, but it was clear that God was stronger. It was inspiring and adventurous. Totally recommend.

1897 From Chicago to Alaska
Fleeing from a lunatic suitor, Grace Hawkins, accompanied by her governess and friend, Karen Pierce and Karen's aunt Doris, the three women leave Chicago, headed for Alaska . . . Grace's father, Frederick, made a deal with the devil in order to hide his own secrets and save his family fortune, promising his young daughter, Grace to Martin Paxton . . . unbeknownst to his wife, Myrtle . . .But when Mr. Paxton showed his true colors, pawing and attacking Grace, her fear of him caused her to run . . . greed and a desire for revenge fueled Paxton to continue his hunt for Grace . . . yet God was faithful to her, Karen and Doris as they made their trek cross country and eventually north to Alaska . . . the story of the people they meet and the relationships that they form are heart warming . . . the book is listed as historical romance, but it is so much more than that . . . it a tale of trusting God in the face of trial, enormous testing, and accepting His answers when they aren't the ones we'd choose for ourselves . . . can't wait to listen to the next in the series . . .

Excellent Story!
If you could sum up Treasures of the North in three words, what would they be?
Great ! Great! Great!
Which character – as performed by Laural Merlington – was your favorite?
Laural is by far the most outstanding narrator ever! She has a different voice for every character! Each one is completely different so that you know who is speaking.
accolades to Laural!!!
Any additional comments?
Tracie Peterson is one of my favorite authors, every book keeps me glued to the story. The problem is I can't put it down, she keeps me wanting more. Every book she writes does the same!

I haven't read the printed version that I can recall.
What other book might you compare Treasures of the North to and why?
The Yukon Queen.
Any additional comments?
The narrator did an excellent job reading this book. Her voice was so well for all the characters and kept me wanting to hear more. I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book.

It was sweet but not my preference
This wasn’t a complete waste of time but I enjoy deeper romances (nothing erotic) and I would’ve liked it to have more suspense. I could see this being an appropriate book for a 14 year old girl.

Only ok read
The story line was promising but failed to excite. The narrator was boring many times. Just too flat.
